I realize this is a skin care & makeup forum but I'm really hoping that it's ok I post this question here since so many of you have great tips for everything else. I just used Garnier yesterday and love the color, it's a medium brown. I find though that after a few weeks though, it fades and looks dull. What do you put in it to make it last and still look shiney? Thanks for any advice. |

I use L'oreal Colourvive shampoo and conditioner for colour treated hair and it helps to keep the colour from fading. Also, wear a hat when you are in the sun. It will help your colour from fading and prevent sun damage on your skin. |

Thanks for the link, that is really helpful.......I just wish I saw it beforeI colored my hair! I would love to know if there's something homemade to use on my hair to prolong the color and shine after it's colored. |

I use Revlon Professional Color Creme (like a colour treatment) to keep and refresh the color. It just like re-add the color back to the the color-treated hair. It works quite well and I remember there are a few color selections. You can choose the one matched to your color-treated hair. |

Stay away from hair styling products that contain alcohol. Alcohol dries out the hair and opens up the cuticle, which shortens the life of your beautiful hair color. Read the labels of your styling products to check for high alcohol content (hair gels can be especially bad). Opt for silicone-based styling products that will leave your hair protected and super shiny.
I use Kerastase Reflection Chroma Protect Protective Polishing Cream before styling. I apply a couple drops to my towel-dried hair before blow drying. I love how it makes my hair shiny and actually boosts the color's radiance.

Artec color shampoos work fabulously. Depending upon how often you shampoo your hair, every 3rd or 4th shampoo, use the color shampoo that is closest to your new color and it will prolong your color. The salon that my friend goes to actually stopped selling Artec color depositing shampoos because they found it worked so well, women didn't have to color their hair as often, maybe going 5 or 6 weeks between their "color" appointments rather than the usual 3 or 4 weeks. |

I use Enjoy shampoo and conditioner. Those help keep my color strong. |

I've used the Pureology Anti-Fade line of products exclusively, for several years. It has definitely made a difference in prolonging my color. |

I have coloured my hair various reds/browns the last few years. I find a capful of Apple Cider Vinegar in shampoo works wonders. |
