Hi all
Does anyone know if glycolic or lactic acid peels remove hyperpigmentation or skin discolorations?
Has anyone with ethnic skin type (South Asian, South East Asian) tried peels to remove skin discolorations?
Thanks for ur help |

Glycolic acid peels can help with discolouration but it may take a series of them to work.
Try Skin Culture peels. They have a series of peels that can provide a really deep skin peel that is effective.

after a horrendous 50% home gly peel my freckle on my nose is very, very slightly lighter, so I would guess that a series as wolfee suggests might do it. Please don't do this at home though or you may end up like me |

If you read the instructions and do not leave on for toooo loooonnnnnggggg a peel should be fine. I am currently using 30% and my skin tone is much better. Perhaps you should read Guapagirls 'help I BURNT MY FACE OFF'thread. It's very interesting.

Hi!
Thanks for all your responses. Yes, I read the "Burnt face off" thread. I think I'll take it one step a time. Since I ahve never used glycolic/lactic acid products before, I'm currently using a 5% face wash (glycolic) & 5% glycolic lotion. Took me a while to get used to them. But, my face is really smooth & nice. Recently though, I overdid my skin care regime & reversed all nice results - I applied lactic acid cream 12% (lactrex brand) & vit c 25%. Boy, does my face look like an old woman's. I now have "frog's skin" (for lack of a better term) & am treating that with Burt's bee carrot cream. Hope u dont mind my asking this to all of u who have replied: do u have ethnic skin type? I ask this 'coz I feel some products that suit certain ethnicities may not suit me & vice versa. Thanks so much |

I have been using Ellen Lange's Retexturizing Peel. It is really nice. You can read a bit more about it here...

No problem, ask away. I can tell you I am white. I haven't been using glcolic for long 3 or 4 weeks at 30% it tingles and I can't leave it on for the extra minute each week they recommend. 3 minutes is my max, but I am seeing an improvement in skin tone. Hope this helps
I see I am repeating myself again. |
