Oh my goodness, the anti fur society is having a raffle to raise money to save cats in China who are being rescued from a meat market. For just $5 you can be entered into a raffle to win these exquisite 18 kt gold grey pearl earrings. I just entered the raffle--- if I win I will definitely wear these earrings with pride knowing that I also helped some kitties in need! |

Scotslass, I'm not exactly sure what you mean here, but this organization is legit. They are non-profit, and they work hard to rescue cats from meat markets and fur markets in China. If anyone feels like that is uminportant work than feel free to pass this post right up, but my heart goes out to the cats suffering in China and I want to do whatever I can. |

If you scroll down there's another link for Kate's Caring Gifts-- buy something and a small percentage goes to some organization that helps cats. Listen, do whatever you want to feel like you're helping, but there's things you could do on a local level to helps animals in your area. I feel like buying things in the name of helping cats in a state I don't even live in is a bit... well, whatever. Buying things isn't going to save a life. |

Volunteer work is a very personal thing violetanne, so people need to do what they are comfortable with. My husband and I are both very active with volunteering in our local community, however, we like to support organizations that reach past our community as well. I'm of the mind that local or not, every little bit helps. |

Mods, would you be so kind as to delete this thread? I wasn't trying to offend anyone with it, I honestly thought that some members would be glad to read it. I'm having a bad day here and I honestly can't take any more hassling. |

EXCUSE ME? Did I just read what I thought I read?
Your unnecessary rudeness: PATHETIC, m'dear!
Whose needs did you meet by saying such a thing to another member? If you don't care for her activities, fine. Keep it to yourself.
I AM NOT PLEASED! |

I agree with Casper's Mum. If you're not interested in someone else's activities, keep it to yourself. There's no need to go around being rude or bullying other members.
Dear Liz,
I really appreciate all the little things you've done to help animals regardless of where they are. Some help, even little, is better than none. And if someone who doesn't see the need to help, I also don't see the need for them to put someone else down either.

Wow, I always looked to this board for friendly members and a place to post things JUST LIKE THIS. My views on animal rights are the same as Liz', but I still don't find the second post appropriate.
Nothing Liz has ever posted has been fake. |

Thanks for posting this Liz! And I agree the comments above are not at all appropriate. And to me, it doesn't matter where an animal lives, if there's something I can do to help then I will do my best! |

That's ok PhoebesMeow - today we are well on our way of ridding the forum of anyone who decides to take their anger out on anyone else here, or otherwise posts something inappropriate. This too shall pass and in a little while we'll all be happy again |

Are you serious? Liz is one of the kindest people I know and she has no agenda, just a desire to help--people and animals alike.

Geez! Get off her case! Its a raffle, just like people do to raise money all the time, it clearly states that (all) the money will go to help these cats, can you prove that it wont save a cat? I know that Liz does do stuff in her area to help animals, so what if she wants to help them in another country! Dont damn her for having a heart. If you dont wish to participate fine, just dont belittle what she is doing to help. |

I'm with PhoebesMeow as in I came to this forum because the members were so kind and helpful. It's a place to share your interests (which is mainly skincare:)), make friends and support each other. But it seems lately things have been somewhat unpleasant around here, which I find rather disappointing to be honest. There really is no need at all to be rude to other members. |

Wow - not quite sure what ScottsLass comments are all about. Bit harsh and uncalled for I think! Maybe she just had a bad day? (Hopefully)
Anyway....Liz - thanks for posting and please don't stop letting us know how we can help - Personally I believe animals deserve our help where ever they are, if we know about it we can then choose whether or not to participate.
(((hugs))) |

Liz -- I'm really sorry you've had to take a very rude one-two punch when all you're trying to do is support a cause you believe in.
Pretty incredible...and not in a good way.

While I agree with the sentiments, I'm curious why this isn't the standard response to posts of this type? Is it selective? I am asking pragmatically. |

Hi Liz - I owe you a giant apology for my earlier post. I clearly did not articulate myself properly and for that I am truly, truly sorry . I see that this is a legitimate cause and my greatest wish is that it succeeds. Again, I am so very sorry.... |

Some people here are freaking ridiculous!
Liz is a compassionate, beautiful soul. She has a huge heart, is helpful to others and has NEVER said anything unkind about anyone on these boards.
If you aren't interested in helping out these animals...Fine, Great, Good for you. Keep it to yourself. This is the "Lounge" section of EDS not the "sit around and treat others like crap" area.
I have basically left this forum for this very reason. Being a bully and treating others like dirt is not acceptable. If you for some reason believe it is than you need to spend more time worrying about your inner beauty than your make-up and skincare needs. I can almost guarantee in real life your foul attitude uglies up any outer beauty you may possess.
Liz - I am sending you extra well wishes. |

I take personal offense to this. So what, we just exclude what's going on in the world because we don't live in a hundred mile radius? Wow, what a sad mentality to live with.
I am a major supporter of International Aid for Korean Animals, a non profit organization that gets dogs and cats off the street and out of the meat market and is dedicated to educating the Korean and international public so that other animals do not have to go through a similar, inhumane fate.
Just because it happens in "another state" doesn't make it any less real. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away.
If you say "buying things won't help" to preach against Liz's efforts, then I can surely respond in kind and say "being oblivious to global need" doesn't help either. I didn't know that charity had to be selective... |

Thank you Liz, for posting this. I'm going to China soon, and I'm terrified of seeing anything like this. But at least I can make a donation and help them a tiny bit. |

Because we try to be diplomatic and handle things in the background via PMs and warnings, as other people should, not on a public forum. Every so often, when members go nuts at each other, too much crap behavior tends to lower our diplomacy levels a little because it's just too hard to handle so many reports and so many complaints on top of doing our regular jobs.
This particular situation has been handled and I think it might be helpful to just go back to the main topic of this thread instead and put the focus back on the animals, where it should be. |
