I am not selling this product, nor do I have any financial or personal connection to it, but I can't say enough good things about it. I've taken it for 3 years and can honestly say I've never had an infection or virus. It averages out to about $10/month and has no side effects. Essentially it's brewer's yeast tweaked a bit. Hi again, fawnie -- it's the stuffy yet drizzly-nosed, head packed with cotton wool, falls asleep at a moment's notice, cold-infested pinky1, writing to thank you for this information. I need to get me some!
I googled "Epicor" after reading an earlier post of yours, trying to find a distributor in Canada, but brain fog got in the way. I'll try your link and hope for better luck.
Thanks again.
Everybody wash your hands after reading this! |

Hi pink, oh bummer, I hope you feel better soon!
I usually order everything from iHerb.com. During Oct S&H is just $1.99 for any size order in US. I believe I saw that Intn'l S&H is just $4.99 during Oct. I have a code you can use to get $5.00 off your first order if you PM me. I don't want to sound like an advert, but this stuff rocks! I can't believe more ppl don't know about it..... |

Pinky!! Good one!
I started my DH on a new product called Life Build Formula, recommended by a friend of mine from the states, because since my hubby went through chemo his energy had never seemed to return...but there has been a noticeable improvement in both his energy and mood, since he started using it twice a day and so now I am going to give it a shot. He was dealing with a bad bad form of lymphoma and that affects the immune system so since there are also anti-aging and immunity boosting ingredients I was anxious to get him on it. I've been into nutrition for a while I like much of what this offers, adoptogens and other things that do not have side effects. I'll let you know how it works for me!www.buildyourhealth.com |

Fawnie, thanks for sharing this. I'm in the second week of a cold that just won't let go. I'll be checking on this, and maybe I can fend of colds for the rest of the winter. |

Hello Ladies,
Its interesting I came across this article today. It's worth a read.
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/10/21/avoid-flu-shots-vitamin-d-is-a-better-way.aspx
"Vitamin D levels in your blood fall to their lowest point during flu seasons. Unable to be protected by the body’s own antibiotics (antimicrobial peptides) that are released by vitamin D, a person with a low vitamin D blood level is more vulnerable to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections.
Studies show that children with rickets, a vitamin D-deficient skeletal disorder, suffer from frequent respiratory infections, and children exposed to sunlight are less likely to get a cold." |

I've always been quite weak against colds/flu. On the average getting sick like a few times a year - and there's no winter/cold season in Singapore
So on the advice of my family doctor, I took a influenza vaccine a few years back and it's been working for me. I almost never get any colds/flu and I only have to take the shot once a year (because the vaccine is constantly upgraded against newer strains of influenza).
Perhaps you can give that a try? The influenza vaccine I'm taking is called Fluarix and it's made in Germany. |

Yes, thank you, I used to get the flu vaccine, but since I started EpiCor I don't get flu OR colds now. **touch wood**
The flu vaccine doesn't protect against cold viruses unfortunately... so I decided to take this since it is a generic immune enhancer. But everyone seems to have his/her own cherished remedies in the cold/flu season! If you don't get sick it must be working for you!! Keep doing it!! |

Hey Fawnie and the gang:
I'm interested in your EpiCore experience. I write a blog about immune "balance" that is the heart of EpiCor's effectiveness. It's at "balanced immune health dot com"
I've been taking EpiCor myself since last Feb. and my allergies have all but gone away.
It's got science, media stories, and some fun stuff. Hope you'll give it a look.

My personal favorite is a few Vitamin Zinc tabelets, washed down with a glass of Orange Juice and some good vodka (like Grey Goose). Does the trick whenever I feel like im getting a cold. |

Hi Craig and welcome! I just bookmarked your blog for settling into later when I can really read thru it - it looks like just what I am into! thanks!
I'm glad to hear EpiCor is working for you. I'm surprised more ppl don't know about it. I really can't believe that I haven't been sick in nearly 3 years from all the viruses and bugs that go around. DH works in hospital so I have finally convinced him to start taking it this year - that will be the best thing if he doesn't get his usual winter crud!! He choked at the price ($1.00 per capsule) until I reasoned with him the cost of antibiotics, cold remedies, time lost from work and just general PIA from feeling horrible.....it's sure worth a dollar a day for me since this is the only immune balance supplement I take.
Good luck and best of health! |

Hi Fawnie:
Thanks for the reply. For you or anyone else who wants more info on how to get EpiCor, just go the the site embriahealth dot com and click on the EpiCor tag at the top.
The stuff is all natural and there's a pretty cool story behind how it was "accidentally" discovered.
Take care. |

Yeah Craig, the story behind it is kinda funny actually. I order my EpiCor from iHerb.com since they do give discounts with large orders. I'm gratified that Embria is giving EpiCor to rural seniors to see if it helps them stay healthy - I believe in it and I hope it catches on more widely! Essentially, as I understand it, it's beta-glucans. Is that right? We are familiar with that substance as an active in our DIY facial potions. |

Fawnie:
There's much more contained in EpiCor than beta glucans. The fermentation process is really involved. The simple story is, yeast is heated, and at the precise temperature, oxygen is removed from the process. This stresses the yeast cells, which respond by growing a rich mixture of metabolites. This mixture contains B-complex vitamins, amino acids, catechins, flavanols, and other micronutrients. The result is a complex mixture of high-antioxidant nutrients that appear to interact on multiple levels with the body's immune chemistry.
The metabolite mixture plus the yeast is captured at the right moment and delivered in a flowable dry powder that is then put into capsules.
Keep asking whatever you want when something pops into your head. |
