Chloelee if you are looking for suggestions on what brands of shadows to use, I can tell you my favorites.
I use to use MAC and Bobbi Brown and it seems over the years they tend to dry out very quickly and become chalky and not blend very easily.
I have recently switched to Dior and I love them. Some have a very slight sheen to them but they blend beautifully, don't crease and last all day!
I hope this is what you were looking for! |

Depends on if you like shimmer or not (since they all are) but the best drugstore eye shadows I've found are Isadora.
Finely milled, high pigment, stays on, doesn't crease. The quads are a great buy! (Even Paula B. likes them... and her liking anything that shimmers is like hell freezing over.)
Avoid "Amethyst Crystals" though, that one has almost no color for some reason. |

For eye shadow, I like the Asian brands such as Ipsa, Shiseido, Ettusias, Shu Umera, Laneige.
They have a wide range of colors at reasonable prices. |

There are so many choices in MAC, it's quite professional, I guess it's a goog choice. |

After trying so many brands, the best that I have come across is SHU UMERA , fine texture and good staying power plus endless colour range. But, too many choices of shades are also its downside as not only make my head spin but some of them are so close just to look at the tester at the counter, i ve difficulty in remembering which exactly is the shade i m going to repurchase if i have not remembered the code. |

I have come to love Loreal's HIP line. It is a High Pigment that lasts... |

why not explore using Mineral eyeshadows? There are a ton of companies and the colours are fantastic and they have real staying power.
Lumiere, Monave, BareFacedMinerals are a few i can think of right now. |

I'm currently really in love with Dior 5-Color Eyeshadow and Julie Hewett Soiree Palette. Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown and MAC have been my long-time favorites. |

Chloelee: Do you mean choosing colors or a brand or a type of eye shadow (e.g. cream, powder, etc.)?
I can't recommend shades without knowing your coloring, but in terms of brands, I like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Guerlain and NARS. For less pricey, but good quality options: Milani, L'Oreal's HIP range, NYX, Jordana, Wet 'n' Wild. |

Thanks guys,
You are all so nice to share. Actually all my eye shadows are gifts and I have a lot but they are all nutreul colors like brow, light blue. I have tried Lancome but the color are not nicely shown. Recently I took out a few pallettes from Dior and found out the color are so truely shown. Love them.
I have always heard Shu umura's eye shadows are good. Been using their oil cleanser and totally my favourite favourite. Will definitely go pick upa five-color Dior palette and will go singe piece Shu umura ones.
Long weekend here in Canada, have a nice one! |

For me, experimentation lead to the best discoveries. Try going to a makeup counter and asking for what would look best on you...the makeup artists will probably suggest you try out a bunch of different colors. Don't try them out on the back of your hand - the colors will look very different than on your eyelid.
This has led me to discover some colors that I would have never considered were for me! I can now wear brown, gold, pink, green and purple eyeshadows with success.
ps - I love the colors that MAC, shu, dior and chanel offer. I haven't checked out Trish McEvoy yet, but I will after reading this thread! |

I'm a big fan of Dr. Hauschka shadows. They're finely milled and thus long-wearing. Plus the colors are subtle--I especially like the golden sand. |
