HELP!!! Has anyone here tried OBAGI and NOT liked it?????
It seems like everyone in the forum has had a good experience with Obagi except me.
Two years ago I started the regimen. Did it for 1 1/2 years, religously following the directions (I am an RN) and getting microderms, too, and it just ruined my skin.
I have very sensitive skin and work out at the gym very aggressively and it seems the OBAGI overstimulated my skin so that I ended up with tiny spider veins and just dry, old looking skin no matter what I did.
Four months ago I started a series of laser treatments that have given my back my old luminous skin tone and texture (I am 55 and someone asked me the other day if I was in my twenties).
Here is my dilemna.
I am going to have my upper and lower lids done in the fall (this willl be my first plastic surgery experience). The surgeon I want to use is an advocate of OBAGI and wants me to start back but I don't want to because of my previous bad experience (which he and I have discussed). He prefers to have me start it because he is going to laser under my eyes and routinely does a Blue Peel when he does this surgery. I really like how conservative his surgery results are but am afraid to start up the Obagi.
Has anyone else had an unhappy result with it? |

| Yes, twice. If it were me I would not let the Dr. talk me into starting again with Obagi. In my opinion, and let me say it again, IMO you would be better off putting drano on your face. I'M NOT KIDDING! |

I used to work at a plastic surgeons office that did the Blue Peels. The estheticians were instructed by the doctor to always recommend a course in Obagi prior to the peel, in fact it was almost mandatory. Last November I tried Obagi with the exception of the cleanser, toner, and sunfader. My skin just could not adjust to the blender and retin a . I introduced it all VERY slowly. Mind you I am prone to some dermatitis reactions. I've seen Obagi work well for some people, but for others it just seems to make things worse. 
You can do a few peels before your laser procedure and/or Blue Peel and this should have the same or nearly the same affect as being on Obagi would. The whole premise is to "prep" the skin for the TCA that is in the Blue peel. Perhaps you can use just the Retin a portion of Obagi as well. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best and sorry for being so long winded.

Hi and welcome SuzyFor! I am pretty much the opposite of what has been said here. I tried retin-a micro a few years back and it made my face worse. However, now that I know how important sunscreen is, I tried Obagi back in January and have just completed my 18 week program. I think the key here is to remember that this system should primarily be used as a treatment only, NOT long-term. I know Obagi and others recommend it long-term, but my derm and I do not agree. I think it's one of those systems that either your skin loves or hates. I think that if your skin doesn't like it then you should back off on the application (i.e. skip a night or two when skin starts getting too irritated) and if it still causes problems then it's just not for you. There are LOTS of people out there that soon find out they are allergic to sulfur as this has a sulfur based product in it, although I don't remember which one and it may be in multiple items.
Can you please tell me which laser you used and the results you got? Now that I'm done with Obagi I'm considering the Omnilight laser to remove some old broken caps and a couple of remaining brown spots. The rest of my hyperpigmentation is gone so now these other things really stand out!  |

I agree with u, I found some products had a good result with certain people, but not all of them.  |

using obagi now.. I had combination skin, oily on T zone and sensitive on cheek area.. easy to get breakout on chin and jaw line.. |

If you get adverse skin reaction, don't use it. Even if it is your doctor!
