A friend of mine has gone to a doctor looking for an alternative for hair removal for her daughter. The girl has tried laser removal, but after the eighth session, it seems not to be effective enough. She has been told that there is an ultimate treatment, which includes 3 sessions for a definitive hair removal, and 1 bonus session. The drawback of this is that it costs $1,500!!! Anyway, my friend is able to pay this amount in order to finish with this issue of her daughter and avoid ineffectual treatments. Any thoughts, ideas, news??? |

I haven't heard a single sausage about this kind of ultimate treatment. Would that be $1,500 per treatment, or per course of treatments? Per course would be pretty good value - if it works.
I think I would look into it very carefully before splurging out, if I were your friend, but I'd be very interested to find out which type of hair removal the doctor means. |

Some secret "ultimate" treatment is a bit vague. Certainly sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me.
Perhaps your friend's daughter should try electrolysis. It's along the same lines as laser hair removal, but the differences could make it more effective for her. And it is actually the only truly proven permanent hair removal. Hair can come back (though likely sparser and many years later) with laser hair removal.
Honestly, and this is coming from someone who's done laser hair removal, I'm not entirely certain why laser hair removal is so popular, and electrolysis is so passe'.
But it may be worth looking into for your friend. |

Hmmm... I haven't heard about anything new and awesome out there. And, I've been doing research. There are quite a few posts on EDS of people who've used laser treatments, and the hair just came back (sometimes years later). I'd inquire further from the place and find out EXACTLY what they are talking about...they can't expect you to pay $1500 (which sounds like a lot of money for MORE treatments) without telling you what they plan to do. And, I'd ask them why they didn't recommend this in the first place. Once you find out, then re-ask the question on EDS and perhaps someone here will have tried it.
I just bought a Braun Episilk (based on rec's on EDS forum) and I LOVE it! It doesn't hurt nearly as much as one I'd tried about 15 years ago...it has these little massage rollers that help...and I'd used some gel to help stop the pain. It was totally bearable (and can I say it??? Felt kind of good )
Best of luck in finding a good solution for your daughter! |
