Hello all,
Ok, this is kind of weird, but I was wondering if anyone thinks that hair provides some moderate UV protection for your face. I have long hair, and when i wear it down, it covers the sides of my face. I do wear sunscreen, but I'm wondering if wearing my hair down rather than up might provide some extra protection. Has anyone else considered this? |

I know that hair can be damaged by the sun too, so it may help shield you face a tiny bit, but I would definitely still use a good sunscreen all over your face for protection. I'm not an expert by any means though, so I'd be curious what others say. |

It's possible, but not even your clothes (unless very thick) can provide adequate UV protection. |

Do you think hair is thicker than glasses? If UVA can penetrate windows, then I doubt that hair can provide much protection for UVA. |

helenzwl, I found this link online that has a bit more information about protecting your hair from the sun. Hopefully it will answer some questions ...

I'm sure it does, to some extent.
I've always dated men with long hair, and the other day had my first-ever date with a short-haired guy. The back of his neck was wrinkly and leathery!
Yuk. All of my long-haired exes had smooth, soft necks. |

There is a product from Lancome, for spraying on the hair, with UV protection.
I tried it before but it's a little bit sticky.
I never came across similar products from other brands. |
