| I stumbled across a product called Toppik Hair fattener, its part of a range for men and women who have very fine thinning hair so a lot of its products are fibres you spray on etc. anyway i was interested in the serum you use after shampoo and conditioner. I just wanted it for cosmetic reasons, more volume, thicker hair etc. I have a full head of hair bytheway, just fine, fine and limp. I used this before blow drying, I have fairly long hair so I did use quite a bit, well I was blown away by the volume. made it thick and lucious. I styled it the same way, i always do. I was well surprised and whats more it not even that expensive. It does leave hair slightly coarse - for me thats a good thing, it may not suit everyone as we all have different hair, but for me its my holy grail hair volumlizer!! |

| This product sounds very interesting especially since it leaves the hair a little coarse. I have lots of FINE hair and most body building products end up leaving my hair too soft....coarseness spells volume in my hair...so let's hear more. |

| Yes anything that leaves my hair too soft also spells "no volume"! I like products to leave a bit of coarseness, to dry the hair - I know that doesnt suit everyone, and i can only stress I like it but other people may not like the slightly dry coarseish look it leaves. Unfortunately i have yet to discover the potion that will leave my locks soft, but thicker, full of hair and shiny!!! |

You could also look at Philip Pelusi age de phy line. It's specificaly formulated for hair that needs moisture but not softness (jeez, I thought I was the only one). Good to have company  |

I am with you. My hair naturally is very silky and shiny, and it sounds like a dream to someone, but it is also very straight and each individual hair is thin, so there is no volume in it, and I trade softness for volume when I style it. I do perms from time to time, but it is still soft and silky even when it is damaged by perms, however even the perms do not curl it or add volume effectively.  |

I checked out Toppik (the electromagnetic keratin fiber application that zizi described)
But curiosity killed the cat (and that's totally about me  ), so I checked the other products and now I am also interested in Toppek (the thickness building shampoo and conditioner, which says that it stimulates the hair to grow thicker!!!) Sounds good and not expensive...
Zizi, Have you used this one too?
Anyone has a thought on it? |

| Yes, since I liked the hair fattener, I tried the shampoo and conditioner, and I am afraid im not impressed. I tried the sham/cond on its own and it didnt give me any more volume than normal. I actually use the purple lush soap bar,cant remember the name and the fattener and I get nice volume. I dont really like using conditioner anyway as it makes my hair too fine. if that makes sense. but to answer your question the shamp/cond is average.. |

Glad to know I am not the only one with this type of hair...For me soft conditioned hair means on my head...hair that lays down and plays dead!!!!!Give me volume! |

For how long have you been using it?
Have you also used the 3d product which is on the same page with sh/cond? (I think it is like a leave-on conditioner, called Toppek Hair Fattener)
I know these are not instant-result remedies (unlike Toppik application), but the idea of stimulating my own hair to grow thicker is also very appealing to me!
I will for sure try Toppik for looks, but I still have hopes to "teach" my hair to be good to me on its-own |

I have one more question, if you do not mind, of course.
Now it is about the TOPPIK (the one with fiber electromagnetic application that you are using)
When you spayed or shook on the fibers, can you comb your hair or touch it without loosing the fibers?
Do you use their fixing spray as well? (that company sells it too and says it helps the fibers to hold on better) But can you get by without it?
When you sleep, do fibers get left on the pillow case? or you must wash them off everyday?
Any kind of visible shedding on the closing during the day?
And by the way, how are the fibers supposed to come off? Just by washing the hair? |

zizi,
I wondering how you think it would work for thick but fine hair. I have plenty of hair - too much actually. But it's fine and needs humidity in order to have any volume. I'm ok in the summer but in the winter, it lays down and dies. I'd like to try this but I also don't want to look like bozo the clown. |

How long have you been using this? Do you need to use it every shampoo? Or does the volumizing effects last more than one shampoo? Do you think this would build up after a while?

right!! got the damm bottle infront of me ...its says TOPPIK HAIR FATTENER. I am using it as a leave in serum after shamp/cond. I do not or have not used the fibres or know anything about them. I not trying to camoflauage anything just create a little more volume, hence no need for any of the other products. its so confusing with toppik and toppek, but mine definately says TOPPIK HAIR FATTENER. Its definately HAIR FATTENER, maybe its different in the usa and uk. I got mine in the uk. but nevertheless product is "hair fattener". |

| oh and a quick reply to other questions, I think you would have to use it after every shampoo as you would with any other normal volumlizing serum. I have not seen any changes in my hair i.e if i wash it and dont use it, its still the same condition as always been. And skippie, I dont think its THAT volumlizing that you wouldnt be able to leave the house!! I wish!! It is quite subtle but noticeable for me - but then I have v fine hair, so for you it may not be worthwhile, i think. Any anybody with dry hair may not benefit either, I have greasy hair so the extra dryness it gives is more than welcome. |

WOW! it IS confusing! The TOPPIK and TOPPEK are on the same site that I posted earlier (www.toppik.com) and by description are 2 definitely DIFFERENT PRODUCTS.
1) Here is the description of TOPPIK (fibers):

So you are saying yours is called TOPPIK but it is not fibers...  , where did you get yours from? |

I would say the toppek hair fattener on the spencer website is the same thing and i will be buying it from there as it is so much cheaper there than here as with everything!! here everything is double what you pay in the states. so yes it is the same product. |

I see now. Good that we figured it out now. They made it amazingly confusing. Because of that, i thought you were talking about the fibers. Good thing I placed an order only for a small travel size last night, I ordered both out of curiosity but I do not need anything for filling as I am like you, I do not have any thinning areas on the scalp, just interested in volume.
I am in shock a bit about this, I could have ordered a completely wrong product, because of this company careless branding... |

| I ordered the Toppik hair fattner and it came in just a couple of days....now please tell me how much to use because it doesn't give an amount at all. Usually it will say pea size or dime size amount....this just says use after shampooing. |

Hi Toby,
I have medium length hair past my shoulders and i use three or four dime sizes? its hard to describe. i just put it all over hair, its trial and error but i do use quite a lot. i saturate all my hair with it, roots and all. i find one squeeze of the bottle just doesnt cover my hair, so maybe i squeeze the bottle 3 or 4 times. but it does depend on your hair length. I also had no instructions so followed my own instinct. Do let us know what you think? |
