I started dieting this week. I gained 20 lbs since my foot surgery/quit smoking Oct. 2006. Last time I lost weight my face looked 10 years older. Fortunately, my face recovered from the "sagging." My big concern is I am now 5 years older. Last time I went on a diet I did not take any precautions to avoid sagging. I am hoping this time with suggestions I can avoid it.

Any help or suggestions you can give me to avoid SAGGING would be most appreciated. I am already using skin care products to address this issue. I am concerned where my face is so use to the products they might not work this time. Rolling Eyes

Winnie

PS: FYI I am taking sugar and white flour out of my diet.

Winnie, I also started a diet this week to lose the last 20 lbs. I lost 25 last year and yes, noticed some sagging. I sure didn't have that problem before I turned 50, but now it's a whole new issue.
Like you, I use CP serum and JB alpha derma and I'm hoping that'll keep the sagging at bay.
BTW, congrats on quitting smoking - the next thing I have to do.
So, I'm also looking for some suggestions to hopefully prevent any further sagging. It really sucks, doesn't it - our bodies will look better from the weight loss, but our faces may suffer. Crying or Very sad

I think what can make the biggest difference is mainly to lose the weight very slowly, maybe 1lb per 1-2 weeks, so that the skin can catch up and adjust as it naturally regenerates.

How about trying facial exercises so that when the muscles under the skin will tighten up as your skin does? Look at www.flexeffect.com.

Try MSM & Vitamin C (as dietary supplements) for skin tightening, and a vitamin C preparation (topically) and applied 12 hours apart from copper peptides (topically).

Also skin brushing is great for tightening up skin. Do a search on it here, there was a thread recently.

i've lost about ten pounds this past month due to stress (sadly, I'd rather put on the pounds and have everything work out the way I want! Bad Grin )

I had some sagging in the beginning, but i think it had to do with the rapid weight loss which was most likely water weight. Now that I'm back to my 5+ glasses of water a day, my skin is plumper and more taught.

Definitely agree with the Vitamin C Serum daily. Also, fish oil supplements daily and the dry skin brushing for the body really is helpful if done consistently. Good luck with the diet! Smile

I certainly agree with you on this.
Diet slowly so your skin can adapt to it...

Winnie, aren't you using Facial flex? Does that not do the trick? Do you you still use/like it?

Yes I still use the Facial Flex. I think I will do it more while dieting. The past few months I have not been very disciplined. Rolling Eyes

When dieting at my age (62) it is a chore to stay firm. Bad Grin

Winnie definitely make sure you have all your vitamins and minerals and flax seed oil daily.

Sometimes when we are dieting we tend to cut not only calories, fats and carbs but many vitamins and essential fats that we need daily for healthy skin, nails and hair.

A good supplement daily should really help and of course we also tend to lose fluid when we diet so make certain you are getting at least 8-10 glasses of water daily!
