ok, i have been using spf 30 and its a water proof product but i keep on applying it nearly every hour just in case...also it is one of the clear ones that you just spray on, it almost smells like hair spray and feels like one too...i only bought it cuz i know that brand pretty well, its the brand were there is a little girl and the dog is puling her bikini bottom down...i dont rememver the brand but yeah, you know what i'm talking about right?
anyhow, i still get realy really dark with this stuff, and my skin feels kind of iritated like it does when you stay out in the sun alot, only i use spf 30,is this normal?..my hands seem like they are wrinkling more when i sit out.is my skin still geting protected???...do you think i damaged my skin at all?or is it just a more healthy glow?cuz i know someone that usses spf 40 and he is nearly black from being out in the sun and he is british....
also, what brand should i use?i really like the clear kinds cuz they dont feel greasy....and the spray on ones....what do you guys think about this? |

i believe the brand is coppertone. i wouldn't use the sprays because they i don't think you can get enough on the skin to get the spf30 claim even if you apply every hour. even with sunscreens and sunblock, you will still tan because none of them block out 100% of the UV rays, if you don't want to get darker, the best thing is to stay out of the sun!! you can also check out la roche posay, they make good sunscreens. I personally use ddf organic sunblock spf30. check out the reviews!! |

La Roche Posay, Bioderma both make good sunscreens but may be a little hard to find. A lot of use Skinceuticals. For something that you can easily find at the drugstore, I think Neutrogena makes some good sunscreens as well.
There is lots of info here about sunscreens. Just do a search. Prepare yourself though, you may be a little overwhelmed with what you find! |

The brand you refer to is Coppertone and it is crap. I agree with the person who said that a spray on ss isn't sufficient in any case. |

I agree with the other posts---sunscreen doesnt stop you from getting darker...it just protects you from the UV rays. I have this problem, as I tan real easily. Only way for me to avoid it is to stay out of the sun. Of course that is hard to do when you go on a vacation to the caribbean, so I just have to deal with coming back darker and wait a couple of weeks to eventually get back to my regular complexion. |

I don't like Coppertone either. I had to return one due to the horrible smell. LRP would be a better choice for more protection.
furthermore, sunscreen is not meant to protect you from tanning/darkening, it mainly protects you from burning and from skin cancer.
if you are worried about turning dark, then stay out the sun or bring a umbrella with you. |
