I tried the foundation a few years ago. While I liked the concept, I couldn't quite get the blending perfected so it was heavy and streaky on my skin (I tried the one with most coverage). They do have several formulas and you used to be able to purchase samples from their site. I don't know if they still offer this, but it may be worth checking out. Their eyeshadow and blush colors look nice and basic; perfect for an "everyday" face. I would probably try it again if I could buy more samples.

I also posted this in another thread on alternatives to MMU....
I tried Illuminare before going to JI. I got the sample pack in the lightest shades, that had all 3 formulations. Nice quality products, but at the time I ordered, I was not sure of all of the ingredients in the foundations an that was a concern to me. Gave good coverage, but I had to use it several times to figure out the right amount to use. |

Yes! This finish is one of my faves, esp for times I will be outside a lot - has SPF 21. I found using a slightly damp sponge, like the BeautyBlender, helps to distribute the pea-sized amount evenly. The trick is to blend, blend, blend. Warming it up b/t 2 fingers would work too if you don't like a sponge. You have to experiment A LOT, it's a steep learning curve to get it at first, but I love this foundation; you can make it as sheer or as opaque as you like by adding more or less. A good all in one too, you don't need a separate concealer. Stick with it, it's worth it! Fawnie |

I have Illuminare eyeshadows, which I love, love, love. Once this stuff is on, it does not budge all day, yet is suprisingly easy to remove. It also give a very natural look, as opposed to the "powdery" look that some eyeshadows can give. That, coupled with the fact that it offers an SPF of 21 makes these eyshadows a favourite and ones that I reach for on a daily basis.
As for the foundation, it offers great coverage, and again, avoids that powdery look other MMU (powder form) can give. The trick to the foundation, however, is to select the right formulation. It's basically offered in 3 formulations: Fantastic Finish (for very dry skin), Extra Coverage (for dry/combo skin) and Ultimate All Day (for oily skin). If you have oily skin and try to use any other formulation than the Ultimate All Day, you will not enjoy this foundation. It is very important to select the correct formulation, this is where the secret lies with this product.
I also have one of the blushes. As far as its consistency, it's great, it lasts all day and again offers that natural non-powdery look. As for the colour, although I'm very fair, I found the Portefino Porcelain (the second shade of 5) was too fair for me and did not really provide the kind of look I wanted. I would order 1 or 2 shades darker next time. |

Have you tried the foundation at all? Do you think it would be good for acne prone skin? Thank you for your input! |
