PRIMAVERA DETOX SALT SCRUB
The third of my Beauty Bible reviews from the lastest package of "natural" products.
I'm not a fan of scrubs. Since I found my magical Dermalogica Ultimate Buffing Cloth, nothing else comes close. It really is the ultimate in body exfoliation, I believe.
My skin is dry and can flake if not taken care of and moisturised regularly. So I really do like to make sure it's kept in good condition.
I couldn't see a list of ingredients with this product, but the blurb says: "Limon marin – purifying; Almond oil – conditioning; Sea water - mineralising. Salt spa therapy to enliven body and mind, slough off dull, dead skin cells and stimulate peripheral circulation. Active ingredients including black silt and mineral rich sea salt and detoxifying essential oils moisturise and hydrate the skin, leaving a healthy, radiant glow."
I used the scrub on damp skin whilst I was taking a bath, following the instructions and using a circular scrubbing motion. Sadly, I found that the salt seems to dissolve pretty quickly and didn't feel it gave me an adequate amount of exfoliation. Certainly, it was nowhere near the level of exfoliation I usually experience with my Dermalogica Cloth.
The scent was an extremely refreshing lemony seawater effect. Texture-wise it surprised me, being much more like a dry-ish, scrubby paste than the usual salt-laden, gritty, oil feel I've had from other salt scrubs. A major benefit of this was that it didn't leave the bath feeling slippy, nor did it leave a ring of oil after I'd emptied the bath of water. It was also pleasurable to use.
After drying myself, I noticed that my skin felt soft and smooth. There was no need to apply body lotion - which is usually absolutely essential for my very dry skin.
Would I buy it for myself?
For pure exfoliation purposes - definitely not.
For an all-in-one, mild scrub when I'm in a rush and don't have time to apply body lotion, then it may well prove useful.
However, I did notice something excellent about this product. It really did make the cellulite on the backs of my thighs look much less noticeable, and the skin felt lovely and firm. Okay, so this only lasted for a day - but it was still enough to impress me. The effect was compounded further by massaging Dove Body Firm Intensive Firming Gel-Cream to the area after my bath.
I must stress that this is not a miracle cure for cellulite - but it really gave me a great, temporary cosmetic effect.
I think I'd be tempted to buy it, so I can use it before special occasions. |
