without clogging pores and to have most effectiveness from both products. Rather then just sitting on top
Moisturizer and skin oil.
Is it moisturizer first? then oil on top?
The oil i am talking about is silkia camelia oil but you may have others in your own routine.
And i would like to do this at night might be too heavy for day time, as its winter here and skin is on dry side sort of.
thanks |

I am using Ylang Ylang oil on my T-zone. I put on the oil first before moisturizer. But I have not seen any benefit of the ylang ylang oil for oil control as raved by others, after 2 weeks of use. Did I do it wrong? |

Maybe I need to be more patient. I am just anxious about not seeing the same results as others. |

Oil first, then moisturizer (if you need it) on top. |

Neroli oil is more oil control than ylang ylang oil. |

First of all I thought Moisturizer and Skin oil are the same.
If not I think put Oil first and then Moisturizer. |

I remember read somewhere in this forum that oil helps to push actives in. So I guess the order is active first, then oil, then moisturizer. |

in a way moisturizer and skin oil are the same. most days at night after cleansing i just use silkia camelia oil and in the morning i see my skin has that nice glowing look . But its winter and this morning i did feel my skin to be a lil bit dry however it did not look it. So i think silkia is not enough for winter. So i want to try both a moisturizer as well as camelia oil |

I recall Markey saying that its moisturiser first then oil to lock in the moisture...but I cant be definate.
But then from another thread, Kim *i think* said its oils first, wait a few minutes then moisturiser.
Its all a bit confusing, but when I do use an oil, I use it after serums and moisturisers, as if I do it the other way round, my moisturiser or sunscreen balls up. |

I prefer to use the Oil first on small areas of my face then moisturiser over the top. |

I think it depends on the oil. I have not used yours, but with emu or jojoba I prefer to put it on last. These oils help take my other stuff deeper and be more effective.
I use emu at night. Before I started on retin a, I found jojoba was really all the moisturizer I needed during the day.
With ylang ylang....i found putting it on first helped. I'm not an oil expert, but the ylang ylang worked better for me when it went on clean skin. I also like the matte fluid. Have you tried that with the ylang ylang? |

I think it should be oil first, but Clarins treatment oil is applied after moiturizer. I think you better read the intruction first. |

I think most of the time oil replaces the moisturizer, as moisturizer really is oil, just with added ingredients. If you must use both, then if your oil is a "treatment" type like ylang ylang, you'd probably want it on bottom to get it as close to your skin as possible. If your oil is just extra moisture (ie. pure jojoba), it shouldn't matter where you put it and I'd stick it on top as that's where it'll push everything else in. |

Personally, moisturizer then oil. |

i was at electroysis treatment today, i asked her if i should put oil or moisturizer first as she also does beauty therapy treatments and she said moisturizer first then the skin oil. As moisturizer is generally water based and you want to put this first then the oil which helps to keep the moisture in. And also as someone previously mentioned it depends on the oil i think |

Does anyone put on the oil after sunscreen? I've found that it helps my foundation go on a bit easier, but I'm wondering if it decreases the the effectiveness.... Thanks!! |

Wouldn't anything put after sunscreen end up diluting the sunscreen? |

Here is a thread about the order of products:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18360
Hidden in there somewhere is info on the order of oils, serums, etc. I bookmarked this thread and refer to it often.
As for YY oil, I used Decleor for a year...it took several weeks to finally see a balance in my skin. Upwards of two months or so after I started, I began to realize that I wasn't blotting as much throughout the day. It takes awhile. YY oil does not mattify your skin, rather it helps your sebum production balance out. Therefore results are not immediate. It's well worth the wait! I went from uber oily to combination skin because of Decleor.
ETA: Order of product application depends both on pH level as well as whether or not the product will block other products from penetrating your skin.
A rough guide for product order from the thread above:
-Cleanser (may need to wait before exfoliate, if pH is a concern)
(optional pH adjusting product could be used here, after cleansing) before acid)
-Exfoliate (usually requires a wait time)
-Toner (Liquid water like products, such as toner/treatment solutions, liquid DMAE)
-Serum (Copper Serum, treatment Serums, DMAE thicker products)
-Gel (DMAE, deffrin)
-Oils (Emu, Jojoba, Almond, etc)
-Creams
-Sunscreen
-Foundations |
