I have had 3 out of 5 laser treatments on my melasma-stained face. Unfortunately for me, in the midst of getting treatments I started on birth control pills (YAZ). Well, I guess I sabatoged most of my treatments by starting these because my patches got darker. I had no idea that melasma would worsen, or I never would have started the pill.I went to my gynocologist office to ask a nurse if there was another pill that didn't have melasma/dark skin pigmentation as a side effect. She said no. I've searched on some forums on the internet where some have said that changing to NOR-QD with no estrogen)might help. Has anyone tried this and has it helped lighten the spots? It's all over my face now. Forehead, cheeks, upper lip, nose, etc. I'm pretty depressed and feel like I should hide at home. Although, I am using Bare Minerals makeup and it does cover, however, I do have to reapply mid-afternoon to keep a fresh appearance. I just ordered Meladerm a few days ago and hope this will curb the onslaught of darkening that seems to be spreading! Should I stop the BC pill??Should I stop getting laser treatments?? I've tried Obaji, triluma and many others. Will it ever go away??? Sad Exclamation Speak to the hand

This is one of the most stubborn skin conditions on the face of this earth. The No. 1 thing: stay out of the sun period! Sunscreen is not a good enough protection, just stay out. I would try to get off the pill if possible since that can provoke melasma out breaks.I have found that lasers of all kinds didnt do squat for me: save your money....you might want to try epiquinmicro by skinmedica. Also skin medica makes an excellent vitamin C which has helped my melasma a lot.(I have tried everything)
