I've been away for a....long while. I've been working on minimizing my routine and I kept getting tempted by the boards, so I took a little hiatus. Anyway. I'm back and I was wondering if you lovely ladies could do anything with my routine.

I'm 24, with slightly oily skin. I rarely get breakout and for the msot part, my skin does'nt like to be fussed with, so i have to be really picky about what I do to it.

This is what I'm doing now:

AM:
gently exfoliate with microfiber cloth
Neutrogena Age Shield SPF 45

PM:
Wash with whatever cheap natural cleanser (i think it's earthscience or something right now)

Weekly or so:
exfoliate with Aveeno daily exfoliation (I don't really like this and when the tube is done I'll go back to EpidermX)
Clay mask with Got2Be I forget what it's called.
Juice Green Apple Peel (but more like once a month, it's prety harsh on my skin)

In the winter I'll add a night cream, which is usually a mixture of rosehip, avocado and essential oils.

I nixed Vitamin C. i was DIYing it and I just really didn't see an improvement. I tried for about three months I think. I'd be OK with adding it back in, if someone has a good argument. Very Happy

So, remember that I need to keep it simple, what would y'all change?

PS. I forgot to add that I just started working 4-1 am at work and now I'm getting undereye circles...I don't know what to do about that.

I think your routine looks pretty minimal to me Razz.

but if you think you dint see any improvement with vitamin c concoction you could take that out and just stick with eating fruits that have lots of vitamin c (oranges, kiwifruit, etc)

I see you dont use a moisturizer at day time?? or even on most nights Shock

Also i dont think exfoliation is required for everyday. Is there a reason why you do it everyday with the cloth? Maybe you could stick with the weekly

Lastly, if this routine is working for you why change? as it looks minimal already lol i was thinking about ADDING in moisturizer Laughing

Your routine does seem minimal, but that's not a bad thing. One of the reasons you didn't see much change when you used the Vitamin C may have been because at your age, not much sun damage has shown up yet. I didn't spend too much time in the sun when I was younger, but dark spots started showing up in my skin after I turned 25. And I started getting hormonal acne at that age too, which was SO frustrating as I had never broken out when I was a teenager. Not too scare you, because these things may never happen to your skin. But since you don't use a moisturizer at night, why don't you add an antioxidant serum to your night routine, as a preventative measure? It may help prevent some problems that the rest of us are battling here!

WoW! You're on the right track. I love the morning routine. This is all a person needs to do. Sunscreen IS THE anti - aging product to use. I would back off on the use of masks & exfolitors; use of ONE product per week is sufficient. Other than that, this is perfect.

As for your eye circles, well...hmmm I don't agree with use of an eye product specifically for circles. Just use your essential oil combo
if you're dry around the area and try using a concealer for daytime use. Very Happy

I agree with Susie, you should not exfoliate your face everyday. Once or at most twice a week is enough.

You need to get enough sleep. Failing which, I would keep it natural by using cucumber juice. Squash a couple of slices in a rough mash. Put them in tow thin piece of cloth (like a hankerchief), keep it on your eyes for 5mins, rinse off with water and moisturise. You will find the dark eyes disappear in a matter of days.

simran - I guess I didn't want to use just a washcloth every day and the microfiber seems to be...gentler? My face doesn't really get "dirty" during the night, so I don't really see the use for cleanser. Should i jsut splash with water?

schang - What sort of antioxident serum would you recommend? I'm not averse to adding a couple things. I take pretty good care of my skin and am relaly religious about sunscreen. I have a spot here and there, but not very often. I usually use tea tree oil to battle that.

St. Ives make a low cost product with cucumber in it - it feels refreshing:

Cucumber Eye & Face Stress Gel
A soothing gel that combines cucumber and other natural ingredients to hydrate and revitalize skin. Works to reduce the signs of stress, fatigue, fine lines, puffiness and shadows to reveal a more refreshed, vibrant look.

How to use:
Apply at the beginning or end of the day. Pat gently around eyes and other areas prone to stress lines and dryness.

I just want to add use eye cream even if you dont moisturize the rest of your face.

At 24, you may not think or see the need of an eye cream but you should start take care of this delicate area now. You don't want to wait until your lines start to show.

In the morning, I use a face wash. I am sure there are many good quality face washes about. I use an indian herbal make 'boutique's honey wash'.

right now, your skin is young, you must not wash it clean so much that it breaks and makes it weak and lose it's natural moisture and elasticity.
