I need a lotion for my son. He seems to dry out to all waterproof sunscreens and we need that for camp. I am thinking of putting a layer of moisturizer under the sunscreen. But he hates tackiness of body lotions. Any suggestions? We are also taking a vacation to a very hot, hot climate in 4 days. So need to find a way to replenish his skin while there too. |

Have you try Vaseline Aloe & Naturals lotion ?
it was light-weight moisturizer that absorbs quickly to provide refreshing moisture without feeling sticky. |

Ice Elements body lotion sold here at EDS is very light and fragrance free. It absorbs completely with no greasy feeling on the skin and it hydrates all day.
Another good one is La Roche Posay Lipikar. It is richer than the IE lotion but hydrates really well too.
Oh, I realized you need one very quickly since you are leaving soon for your vacation. The LRP is available at drug stores. |

Nivea Smooth Sensation body lotion and Johnson Johnson's 24 hour moisturizer both are dry-touch lotions. They leave no tacky feel on the body. |

Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion : non fragrance, creamy but not oily. It is the best basic, everyday body lotion. |

Although I do feel this stuff is moisturizing, I didn't care for it as a body lotion. I felt it left a film on my body, instead of sinking in my skin. I like it as a hand lotion though, for that exact reason. Protects hands from frequent washing. |

I really like vaseline lotions (the green aloe one and purple nighttime one) as you don't feel sticky or slimy afterwards. I hate the greasy feel of lotions like Keri!
I've also been using victoria secret lotions which are pretty good, but for your son, I'm not sure whether he'd like the smell :S |

Thanks everyone for suggestions. What about Petroleum though? Shouldn't we be trying to avoid it? I get confused. Maybe it was Mineral oil? Thanks. |

Petrolatum, petroleum jelly, mineral oil, baby oil and Vaseline are all the same thing, essentially. Some are more viscous than others, but they're all the same chemical. Many people swear by them and many avoid them - they are believed to be very comedogenic (pore-clogging) and people in favor say they're superb moisturizers, while people against say they create such an impenetrable barrier that your skin can't breathe properly or absorb moisture. So it's up to you to decide if this is something you want to avoid or not - personally I avoid it at all cost, but then I'm something of a hippie when it comes to ingredients, and I'm also quite breakout-prone even on my body, so I would never use this. But like I said, there are folks who swear by it - try looking up "petrochemicals" on the forums and see what threads pop up. HTH! |

I'm loving Nature's Gate Fragrance-Free Moisturizing Lotion.
It has some wonderful oils and witch hazel. I brought it camping and it was perfect. Absorbs so fast but not greasy. It's my new HG for the body.
Also Nature's Gate stuff is cruelty free and very natural and safe. |

As a basic must have body moisturizer I Aveeno Body Moisturizers. My daughter-in-law uses it on her baby. My little granddaughter has Eczema. It is non fragrant and not a bit oily. Sometimes you can get it on sale. |
