Just a simple answer to poll questions is all that needs to be answered. Not interested in knowing the businesses people patronize.

I get the high end skincare stuff online (mostly on EDS if they carry it) but make-up I get at a store like Target or Sephora b/c I need to see the colors or try them.

I love trying stuff at Sephora or a dept store and getting samples to take home.

I much prefer online as I have more time to research the products. (And, EDS is the best online shop, not only variety of products, but prices and service.)

I used to do most of my skincare shopping in beauty supply or Sephora-like stores. Now that I've found EDS, 99% of it is done online.

But I still like to buy cosmetics in person, just so I can see and test the colors before buying. I travel a lot now, so lately have been buying a lot from DFS stores.

I'm conflicted. I do most of my shopping online from a spa/clinic. I voted for online, but I was torn about voting for spa/clinic. I always have to over-think everything Confused

i thought spa/clinic meant offline, like buying products after a facial or whatever from a spa maybe not even having a treatment in order to purchase but just offline Smile

I buy almost exclusively online.
I live in a small town, so the products that
I use just aren't available in the stores here.

Skincare online, also MMU online (after much colour sampling).
Like others have noted, I also prefer to get colour cosmetics from a department store where I can see the colour, unless it's something like a black mascara or a product I'm familiar with.
Almost every lipstick, blush, etc I've bought online without seeing a tester the colour was not really what I expected. In my ideal imaginary world, EDS would have testers of all their colour cosmetics and MMU here in Hong Kong at my disposal Very Happy

I usually buy my skincare stuff online as its cheaper and I can do hours of research before purchase and not feel guilty for not buying in department stores.

But as I rarely buy makeup, I should think I would buy it in store unless I know which colour/shade to get.

Hey CaspersMum, cool poll! But I have to say, I think you should have an option that says "Health food/natural grocer", because I think it's quite different from buying at a normal grocery store. That's where I get most of my stuff - various health food stores. EDS is a close second though! Smile

Hehehehe, then I'd like to change my vote...

Seriously though, I think it's about 1/2 online and 1/2 health food stores for me. If there's ever a product I want to get and it's something EDS carries, I go out of my way to order it through here, because I'd rather the distributors at EDS get that money than, say, Whole Foods, especially since they're so awesome and generous about letting us have this forum. But if a brand is a small company that EDS doesn't carry, I usually try to order stuff directly from them if their shipping prices are reasonable, so that they get more of a profit. I'm very strategic about all this!

Where does Sephora fall into? Dept store or speciality boutique?

Skincare would be online ca. 50% (mostly due to EDS) followed by mix of Dept store/ spa/healtfood store. Cosmetic would mostly be Dep Store/Speciality boutique/healthfood store. Issue of choosing color way too important although MMU is breaking this habit.

80% On-line (with discount code of course!) and 20% drugstore is the only way for me. Don't like Dept. Stores and dealing with the sales associates trying to push items on me I don't want (but I do make it a point to pick up Clinique when there is a GWP!).

I do most of my decleor from departmental store (because they offer a free treatment (facial or body)) and the rest from EDS (still quite a lot as somethings are so much cheaper than the stores and on top the free full size gift when buying over CAD150 is too tempting)

Cosmetics - lipsticks, lipsticks, lipsticks from departmental stores /airport duty free as I like to test the shades. Very seldom do I buy from ebay, only if a particular shade has stopped selling in the shops.

Last year I was still buying all my skin care either from drugstore or department store. Since discoverred this online community earlier this year, so many brands previously foreign to me are filling into my online shopping cart these days.

Ever since EDS, I buy my skin products online. Very Happy I think it's great to get free gifts and so many samples. When I want to buy makeup, I will usually go to the department store to use the testers and buy it afterwards.

We are almost all online shopping girls. But for makeup it is not easy to decide before I try, I have to go to department store.
