Hey Ladies,

After using Dr. varon's c serum and quite happy with its result I was tempted to use other product by this line. I found this dr. Varon's Glucosamin Moisturizer at wallmart and couldnt resist as i read so many raves about Glucosamin at this forum and buy it.

I am under believe that It brightens the skin.
Please correct me If i am wrong.

Its been two days that i am using it along with my varon's c serum. But I m finding it sting a bit over my face and can feel some discomfort after applying it over entire face. And noticed today in mirror that my skin is peeling from nose not badly but can see white peel over nose .
I am not sure its good sign or bad so thought of taking your opinion on this.
Are these signs are good and should i continue using this and will my skin get use to of it as same happen when i started c serum routine but without the stinging effect.

Please please advice me.....

thnx sooooo much in advance

I am not a chemist, nor do I play one on tv (HA) but I was interested in your reaction...since I would think a moisturizer would not cause that...

I found a couple of things - this from the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology

Glucosamine has been reported to inhibit melanin production in melanocyte culture. It thus has a potential to reduce hyperpigmentation via topical use. Due to stability limitations of glucosamine, we chose to clinically evaluate the stable derivative N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG). Based on in vitro Franz cell testing, NAG is a good skin penetrant. In an 8-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled, left-right randomized, split-face clinical test, topical 2% NAG reduced the appearance of facial hyperpigmentation. In a second clinical study involving the topical combination of 2% NAG with 4% niacinamide, an agent previously shown to be clinically active, the effect on hyperpigmentation was greater. Both of these agents are well tolerated by the skin. This high tolerance coupled with relative ease of formulation and stability in solution make NAG, especially in combination with niacinamide, a suitable cosmetic ingredient for use in skin care products dealing with issues of skin hyperpigmentation.

Also Serious Skin Care apparently has a line with glucosamine as the touted ingredient. It is marketed as a line for use by people with sensitive skin. This would make me wonder then if it should cause the reaction you are having.

Maybe you should call the mfr. and ask about the peeling and if it is to be expected. Surely someone else can decipher those ingredients.

Good luck.

Hey damblues,
Thnx so much for replying back. Today i goggled on each and every ingredient that creme has and found that it has retinol that cause peeling and as i am using it twice day along with vitamin C it gave me very drying effect. I am thinking of using it only once a day in night time and Vitamin C serum once in am.

Thnx for your response i really appreciate your effort for solving problem.

No problem, I was curious as well. Good you found it what it was. I agree that was probably way too much to put on at one time.

Good luck with it.

Finally I gave up trying this creme. It is not good for my sensitive face.. My face peel like anything.

But now i find different use of it. I start applying it over my lower legs as it has retinol which is considered good for Keratosis Pilaris which unfortunately I have.
Lets see if it work for that...
