Hello all,
I am new to this board and am wondering if you can advise me. I have a fair complexion with high colouring. I don't think I have rosacea just a blotchy red skin, particualry my nose, which flushes red very easily (cold, heat, rain, etc) and looks like a beacon.
I have lovely skin other than this and would never wear foundation if I could only calm this redness down permanently. I have heard of a product by clinique (anti redness cream) and was just wondering if any of you could advise me from a nutritional/skincare point of view of what could be causing my skin to be so flushed? I would be very grateful if you could also recommend a good skincare line. My skin is also hypersentive, not so much to products but to touch, friction etc. I have tried green creams etc but they don't work for me. I would rather sort out the cause of this rather than camoflague it.
Thanks in advance,
Kazz xx |

It could possibly be a circulation issue or simply very sensitive skin. It's important that you wear sun screen everyday because the sun will definetly make it worse. It could also be genes in which case a few products could probubly help it. I have heard a lot about Emu oil's calming benefits, as well as the soothing properties of aloe, camomile, and other essential oils. I am sure other people will be a bit more helpfull with acctual brands.
I have very sensitive skin as well, and I know that the sun can often exaserbate the issue. Maybe also try drinking more water. I know when my facial skin gets really red and irritated by any kind of friction it is because it's that time of the month , or because I am not drinking enough water. Hope this helps a tad! |

my skin is SUPER sensitive as well. Especially in my cheek area, i get red flushes when it's extremely hot, cold or windy, sometimes the cheek area even feels hot and itchy when I'm extremely nervous or stressed out. I think it got to do with your hormone. The thing i use to calm down my redness is DERMANEX, it's a professional skin cream that's used to treat redness. It has done wonder for my red cheek and past pimple scars. I've been using it for almost a month and i see significant results.
At night, i use aloe vera gel to calm down and sooth my skin. and it works very well too, plus they are inexpensive!
hope it helps! just don't focus on it so much because if you get upset over it, your hormone fluctuates which may cause even more redness! |

I"m with you kazzakami, I have the same problem, I think it's a circulation problem, but then i've never ask a dermatologist what it might be, i'm thinking circulation or really bad sun damage, I remember I used to play out in the sun alot when i was little. I just don't know anymore, I used to work for clinique, and ofcourse the cream your talking about, but didn't see any difference in redness, Estee Lauder has one called calming fluid, I like that alot, I do see redness release, but it's still there. I don't use a scrub on my face anymore which has help with not rubbing, but rather i use an exfoliating mask, Prescriptives has a redness relief gel i put on one side and did see a difference, but then again not what i really wanted to see. Dermalogica has a skin soothing booster that i've been dieing to try, thats my next step. good luck let me know if you find anything good! |

Thank you for your response, it seems so unfair that others have a lovely even toned skin and I'm stuck with this redness. Shame about the clinique not working, but I may try a sample. I am Irish so I reckon a lot of it has to do with my skin colouring. I tried the Dermalogica but it didn't work for me, in saying that I am very impatient!!!
If you come up with anything too, do let me know.
Thanks so much

hi kazz!
no you are definitely not alone. many people suffer from redness like you! Just face it with a positive attitude, and if nothing works, just accept it! I used to have perfect skin, by that i mean occasional zits here and there, but now i have ugly red cheeks, hahah but i just accept it, so be happy!
i bought my dermanex from my dermatologist.
i think you can buy it online, just go to google and search for dermanex, you will get tons of results! good luck~! |

Hi everyone
Well I work with Arbonne products and they are wonderful, they are all natural. I have a line for sensitive skin which have great ingredients for this condition. And the best part they are guarenteed. Anyone interested please e-mail hkytwn979802@aol.com. I would love to help. |

I have redness on my face as well - mostly on my nose and chin. I find Cream de la Mer really helps - in fact it has cleared it up. For a while, I was too cheap to buy another bottle and tried many things my esthetician recommended, and my skin was awful - I litterally couldn't go outside without foundation - which I didn't usually wear. Then I repurchase the La Mer and the redness was gone within days - this was not my reason for purchasing la mer originally, so I didn't realize it would help. I lived through 4 months of redness and spent as much as the la mer cost trying creams, and mask, and all sorts of things to improve the redness. So the la mer, turned out to be cheaper in the long run! |
