I am looking into fractional Non-ablative skin resurfacing.I want to have this done for my enlarged pores. Now I know it will not get rid of them but was told it will make them better.

What they will use is the Lux1540 factional microbeams that penetrates deep into the epidermis and dermis for effective, long term results. It takes 4 treatments and the cost is 1200.00. Has anyone had this done or know anything about it? They told me it will be red or pink like a sunburn and will last a couple of days,no peeling and you have to wait 3 weeks for the next one.

I have done alot of looking, just wanted to know if you ladies know of this and what you think.

Hi Leggy! I had 5 treatments done starting in July of last year (same laser). It did not seem to do much for my pores at all. I had them done for improvement of skin texture. I would have to say save your money and go with peels. I have had much more improvement and better results with scheduled TCA peels. If you are nervous about doing them yourself find a good doctor and have them do a series of them. I think you will be happy. Hope that helps.

Thanks dream4more. I had a TCA peel 20 years ago and had very good results.I have never done them myself. What do you ask for from a doctor,I've never heard of a series that a doctor would do.When I had it took about 10 days for my skin to heal.

I had a Pearl Laser treatment (which I think is classified as non-ablative) but my skin did peel and there was a down-time of about 4 days. It was a one-off treatment and cost AUD$2,000.00. Afterwards, my pores were non-existent - although they did start to re-appear after a while.

I'm a big fan of Lactic Acid Peels which I buy from Makeupartistschoice.com. Doing these regularly definitely helps refine the skin.

Keliu, what do you mean by regularly ? Once a month or every 3 months? I have never been happy with the texture of my skin and so I'm always looking for something to improve it.I use retin a. Can you use that after the lactic acid peel?

A LA peel every two weeks is basically my schedule. But that's not set in concrete - if I think it's too much, I have a rest for a while - I just see what my skin can handle. At the moment I've bumped my Retin-A up to 0.1% and that's working wonders. My skin is peeling allot but my forehead looks so smooth. So that along with the LA can be quite invasive - but if you listen to your skin and adjust everything to avoid irritation, the results are definitely there. I suffer from Sebaceous Hyperplasia (lumps and bumps) so I've taken a fairly aggressive approach in order to resurface my skin. I don't think SH ever completely goes away, but my skin is definitely looking much smoother.

I think you will be more than happy leggy doing peels verses spending on the laser. You will have much better results--I know I have. My TCA's I do different sections of my face because I do not have time off for downtime. I do them about every 6 weeks. My dermatologist also has done a 25% on my lip lines when I get my Juvaderm and Botox done. Other than that I do them myself.
