Why would someone choose a chemical sunscreen opposed to physical, considering the possible dangers of the chemical instability and all that. I must be missing something..can someone define if there are any pros to wearing chemical?
Are there any disadvantages to wearing the physical one? Is it comedogenic (sorry for spelling)? That's my main concern. Thanks for anyone's reply |

Hi Masha,
I've got only limited knowledge on sun screens, but this thread provide really good information:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=15279
In short, Physical blockers are finely powdered and dispersed minerals with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, which can filter out both UVA and UVB. Chemical UVA blockers, include avobenzone and Mexoryl, are also effective UVA blockers. however, it is advised NOT to apply makeup that contains physical sunscreen (TIO2 or ZIO2) as an active ingredient over a chemical SS that contains Avobenzone, as these will inactive the Avobenzone at the end. |

Hi daydreamingda, I have been back reading up on sunscreens on this forum and just read your comment that a physical sunscreen applied over a chemical one will neutralise the avobenzone. Where did you get this information? I have been advised to apply first the chemical one then the phys over the top and am now worried to hear you say this! Please let me know |
