I wonder what are the signs of overstimulation of the skin? And what are the longterm (harmful?) effects of using products for mature skin a bit early? I have gotten a few red spots that I have never experienced before. It is not a rash, it is not acne. They do not itch but when I touch them they hurt a little bit. Maybe my new skincare regime is a bit over the top.. I have great results, but maybe I have overdone it?
I use Dermalogica Extra Firming Booster and Dermalogica Sheer Moisture for the daytime. In the evening I put on Decleor Iris oil and Vitaroma Lift Total Cream. I also use firming masques (Decleor or MD Formulations) once or twice a week. I am 29, but I use these products as a treatment, I am thinking a month or so, and then go back to my usual regime. I suspect that the Dermalogica Booster is the culprit, because these spots appeared a few hours after applying this product one day. I don't really want to stop using this, as I think it works.
I would appreciate any comments on this. Thanks!! |

Maybe you could have an allergy test done to test the products for possible allergies? |

OK.. This sounds a bit drastic as a first step, but maybe I will do it if I continue getting these red things. I am not sure this is allergy, as the spots are very defined and not spreading or itching. Also, they are almost gone now, I have not used the Dermalogica Extra Firming Booster these days, only Decleor. I'll try the Dermalogica again and see what happens. Maybe my skin is getting a bit sensitive as I am getting older.

Siri,
Not that I know what this is but, out of curiosity, are these raised at all or does it just look like red pigmentation?

Hi Mabsy
They are a little bit raised in the middle, and the color is red, a little purple-ish.. They are almost gone now. It seemed like they were pulled up from very deep down, so maybe this was just a little breakout because the products work more deeply than I am used to. Don't know.. I have very seldom had a pimple and these did not look like that, but maybe they were after all. I am using the Dermalogica again and I don't break out now. Strange.. I have never had a reaction like this to anything. I'm thinking it also could be the new sunscreen I'm using (Dermalogica), but it could be anything, or nothing, really.
Thanks!

Sounds like you might need to isolate the products and see which one (if any) is the culprit. I hate having to do that Luckily I haven't had to do that for quite some time.
It could have been a bit of a breakout - I have had deep pimples that have never come up in the end (usually because I attacked them with my artillery of spot treatments ).
