i just started incorporating a massage of hazelnut oil into my nightly cleansing routine. it would seem that ocm stimulates the skin and would cause cellular turnover, or at least it aids in circulation. my skin heats up after a while and i can certainly feel dead skin balling up. also my skin really glows and my pores are less noticeable for hours afterward. anyone else use ocm not for acne but for cellular stimulation benefits as well? thanks!

I mainly do have my teens use it for acne...but I do it myself once in awhile. I have no idea about actual cellular turnover, but I feel like it does a great job deep cleansing while adding moisture at the same time. My skin looks rosy (all that massaging, surely) and plumped right after. I love it. I have to admit, I don't do it often enough, due to the time it takes to do it right. It seems to make sense that it would help turnover if it is helping to rid the surface of the skin of dirt. But I still use my retin-a and mild peels for help in that area.

Hello ladies,

How do you "massage" your face? I'm somewhat unclear on this. And then, how do you wash it off? Do you use the hot wash cloth?

I massage with my finger tips in a circular motion. Then I splash hot water (not burning) to get some of the excess "dirty" oil off, then I hold a hot wash cloth over my face for steaming, then I use the washcloth and more warm water to wipe the rest of the oil off.

OCM=Oil Cleansing Method
You are supposed to massage a mixture of Castor Oil and EVOO (or a blend of your preference) for 2-5 minutes to dissolve oil and clean out pores.

beyond the circular massaging, i also like to incorporate the press & release technique...as used for dr. h cream cleanser.

i like the press & release because it prevents/minimizes any unnecessary stretching & it acts like a suction between your hands & skin to help draw the nasties out.
