This stuff is weird, but I'm just gonna come out and say-- I like it.

It costs $8 and comes in a little glass roller ball applicator. It's deep yellow, watery, and smells like licorice. When you put it on, it stings, probably because the first ingredient is, yep, alcohol.

The thing is, it works... It kept several cystic bumps on my chin from getting bigger and more painful. Sure, it doesn't make them go away completely, but I think it makes them heal faster. It also seems to make the scar from the blemish I use it on fade faster. And even though it's mostly alcohol, I don't notice any excessive dryness (I only use it in the morning, under my moisturizer).

So, there you go. If you hate it, just remmeber, I warned you-- it's weird! BUT, worth a shot. Very Happy

Hi violetanne!

How does this compare to the other spot treatment gels/creams that you have used? Do you thinhk this is going to be a staple in your regime?
Even though Im quite happy with the products Im using, I'm still very interested in stuff that will clear my acne and wont leave any marks.

Thanks! Smile

I've tried this and must say I don't really like it. For the same price (I think BB is a dollar or 2 more expensive) I much prefer the Desert Essence one in terms of both effectiveness and hygiene.

1. BB gets used up extremely quickly - usually with these type of roll ons for it to be effective you need to use it a few times a day on a particular blemish and I used up a 5mL stick in less than 2 weeks. DE lasts way longer - I've had my 10mL stick for months.

2. BB is very unhygienic, with use the liquid will cloud. This has nothing to do with the product itself but the packaging, the roller ball applicator obviously does NOT keep bacteria/dirt out. Although I don't particularly think this is a problem as I believe the alcohol in the product immediately kills the bacteria anyway, it still looks really gross. DE does not have this problem even though it's in a roller ball applicator.

3. DE smells better and stings less and generally on my skin is more effective.

Sormuimui, that stinks that you had that experience!

Yeahyeah, I would say this compares favorably to other spot treatments I've used-- definitely less drying than a BP treatment. I use it sparingly, and I still found it to be effective. Unlike sormuimui, mine doesn't seem to be running out quickly, so I'll continue to use it. Whether I'll buy it again-- who knows. Lately I'm pretty fickle and have been trying new things. Once I run out of this I might try to Desert Essence stuff Sormuimui is talking about.

I also love this product (as you can see from my signature)! I've been using it on my chin to prevent cystic acne, as well as on the stray blemish, and it definitely works.

Thanks for the replies...Hmm I've been taking a little look at Ole Henriksen's blemish stick, which also has a roll on applicator and has quite a high rating on MUA. Has anyone used this and is it better than BB?

It's exactly the same as the one being reviewed. They just called it different names.

My favorite roll-on spot treatment is X-Zit (distributed in US by Health From The Sun).
http://www.healthfromthesun.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?product=xzit

I got mine at Whole Foods but my local one stopped carrying it. I love the smell too (I think it's the palmarosa and geranium I like) so I like using it - it's a little aromatherapy uplift.

Quote:
X-Zit™ helps reduce the appearance of blemishes for teenagers and adults with acne problems. This all-natural formula contains pure and natural essential oils: Tea Tree Oil, which neutralizes bacteria; Clove Leaf and Palma Rose Oil, which are antiseptic; Ylang Ylang Oil, which gives it a pleasant aroma; and Geranium, with its healing properties.

X-Zit is available in a convenient easy-to-use roller stick that fits nicely into your pocket or purse. The roller stick is good for about 100 applications. Shake before using. Avoid contact with eyes.

Ingredients: Alcohol (Denatured), Water, Castor Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Palma Rosa Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Clove Leaf Oil, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Linoleate and Hydroxyoctadecadienoic Acid Ethyl Ester.

I see I can replace it when I run out through Vitacost - yeah!:
