I just started oil pulling this morning, after reading the rave reviews of this exercise for many weeks.

I am starting with cold pressed safflour oil.
I pulled for 15 mins. this morning, but when I spit it out, it was still yellow.

I read that it has to be white. Has anyone else had this experience?

Any advise in this matter will be very appreciated.

i've done this a few times, and most of the time the emulsion comes out white; HOWEVER, whenever i oil-pull after eating, the emulsion almost invariably comes out yellow. why this is, i have no idea. do you pull on an empty stomach??

Yes, I pull the first thing in the AM, on an empty stomach. Do you really have to vigorously "pull" back and forth through the teeth, or more aptly, "pull"? I just mostly swish around. Maybe this is the issue?

I have used sunflower oil to do this. I am nearly 3/4th through the bottle and have not had much benefit. Am a bit disappointed.

I do pull bit vigorously and it is white but I pull for 20mins. It's yellow if I do for any less.
I also do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

i think the vigorous swishing is emulsifying the oil like when you wisk it in salad dressing.(you are incorporating air when you swish so hard) When you have millions of tiny air bubbles in it, it will be a lot lighter in colour than unemulsified oil.

Try an experiment. Take the same amount of oil in a glass bowl and use a metal wisk on it for 20 minutes. I bet you get "white" looking oil if you beat it hard enough....

thanks so much for these comments. I appreciate the feedback. I have switched to sunflower oil now. Perhaps I will have a better result.

I would love to try oil pulling, but I read somewhere that it might loosen fillings and cause them to fall out. Does anyone know anything about this? I have a buttload of fillings and I would hate for this to happen.

After my initial critique, I do think I should also mention the good things that this does - my teeth are cleaner - no doubt about it.

Not so sure about the hair - might have become better. I am in the transitional phase of growing my hair from a very short hairstyle to a long one.

Don't know about the fillings. If you do a google search, you might find more information.

I really want to try oil pulling and have read about some great results. Has anyone on here really noticed some sort of a difference since doing it?

How does the oil taste/feel in your mouth? I might like to try this, but I can imagine it's not exactly pleasant.
