hi ladies ,
i ve been a silent lurker for a long time ..all you ladies are so knowledgable ..wish had known abt this forum 10 yrs back
a background of me --i am 30 yrs old still suffering from hormonal acne n ve some left over hyperpigmentation frm past acne out breaks ..n large pores blackheads ( u nme it i ve have it  ..)
i saw a drem n she prescribed me spiro (50 mg )+ retin .1% +hydroquinone 4%
well it hasnt been wrking so far
its been 3 weeks now
my q was i ve read so mny raving reviews abt obagi ..should i order it or just use the prescription meds coz some of the obagi prods ve similar ingredients like the prescribed meds
n if i do decide to order the obagi which one shud i order the one with exfoderm forte or the regular one with just exfoderm

Sorry I don't know what spiro is. But if you're already using hydroquinone and retin-a, you should add an exfoliant in the mix.
That's basically what obagi is: hydroquinone in the clear, hydroquinone in the blender which is mixed with retin-a at night and an exfoliant. Some people believe you have to use all of the 3 actives in the Obagi line together in order for it to work. You could go ahead and order the exfoderm to add to what you already have. I'm surprised you haven't peeled using retin-a alone. Were you always a retinoid user?
Another thing about Obagi that I personally think is an important (and some people believe bad) ingredient is the SLS, which I was told, helps the products sink in. I doubt your hydroqunione cream has that. Lastly if you've never exfoliated before (I had NEVER exfoilated before in my 23 years) you'll have a thick layer of dead skin on the surface which will probably impede anything you put on it from sinking in deep at all.

Lazysusan, you can try to just add the Exfoderm or the Exfoderm Forte to what you are already using. You could also ask your derm about the Obagi system to see what they have to say about it. If your skin is oily, you use the Exfoderm Forte. If you skin is dry, use the Exfoderm. HTH!
Don't forget that Obagi has a new line just for acne (that is what the spiro is for right?) |

ive decided to take the plunge n buy the obagi products ..il keep everybody posted n i promise myself if this doesnt work then i wont try any more products ..il just learn to accept my crappy skin the way it is
