For the past few months my skin has been awful and I just don't know what to do about it. I have always had oily skin but lately it has been dry and flaky on the surface and I've often been able to peel chunks off at once. It looks awful when I put foundation on, even tinted moisturizer. I cleanse, tone and moisturize every day, my diet or exercise regime has not changed. What has caused this problem and what can I do?
Please help!

Time to go to the derm. Sounds like you might have a skin condition that is more serious than just dry, flaking skin. Maybe eczema? I am no skincare expert but if whole sheets are coming off and you are moisturizing, sounds like a serious problem. I think a doc would be the place to start. |

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I agree that you should consulat with your doctor ASAP. Healthy skin does start from the inside out. It wouldn't hurt to add some essential fatty acids to your diet such as Flax, Salmon, Borage or Evening Primrose Oil to nourish your cell membrances. These oils do wonders for all sorts of skin problems, espcially dry skin.
Also, you may want to stop using your current products. Perhaps they are too drying and stick with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil. Maybe products are to harsh and strippng all your natural oils?? |

At the meantime, you can put on hydrating mask daily. With your daily routine, should choose something mild, stop peeling or exfoilate. You should also drink more water, at least 8 cups a day. If your skin is not getting better, should look for advise from doc. |

Thanks guys, I have been to the docs but i'm in the middle of transferring so i have to wait.
It's not eczema, I know what that's like. My nose especially is the problem area - its shiny and the skin is tight, as though its oily, but yet its flaking! Argh! Its not the products, I switched them when it started to less strong ones but that made a difference for about a week then it returned.
I'm trying to drink more water, but i do admit my diet is poor which i know doesnt help, but like i said before, that hasn't changed for the last three years or so (i've been at uni) and the problem is more recent.
Anyway, will ask the doc when I finally get there.... |
