I am new to the forum, hope I am posting this question in the correct topic area :>)
I visited a dermatologist a few weeks ago to talk about general skin care. I am 43 years old and showing those inevitable signs of age I have average, combination skin with no major problems.
She prescribed Tazorac Cream (.1%) applied nightly to deminish fine lines and give my skin more even tone. I have seen some improvement, though I still get some peeling daily. Along with the RX she gave me a sample of "YQ Stratum" from DCL to be applied each morning after cleansing. The sample only lasted 7 days, but I saw a big improvement in the deeper lines on my forhead. Now I consider this product quite expensive ($72-$105/oz) but I believe it realy helped.
Does anyone have an idea why this product works? Is there another product that can accomplish the same thing? Do any of you use this product or know anything about it.
Thanks for your help. |

Hi Trigal,
Welcome to the forum
I don't know anything about that product at all so I can't help you there. Just out of curiosity though, have you tried incorporating a vitamin C serum and perhaps some AHAs into your routine? Also, there are a number of botox-like products (based on argireline) on the market that promise to reduce the depth of wrinkles (and a few ladies on this forum have had good results using them).

Thank you Mabsy.
Wouldn't a Vitamin C serum or AHA do the same as the Tazorac cream? I am afraid of using to much and realy not sure where to start... hence the visit to the dermatologist. I would be interested in hearing about the "botox-like" products as I know that is what I need, but I am fearfull of needles and the cost. |

Not Mabsy, but I have experience using Tazorac, both .05% and .1% cream which I rotate nightly. I found I had to incorporate an AHA during the daytime to handle the peeling from the previous nights use of the retinoid. Once I started using this I was much happier with Tazorac. I also use a Vit C product after my morning cleansing, and that is probably helping as well. Of course, you'd have to use all three of these products at your own pace to reduce irritation.
