Hi,
I have problems with blackheads on the nose area (and only on the nose).
Initially, I tried some of the general cleansing pads and exfoliating cream but that had no effect. Then I heard about Biore nose strips reviews of which seemed very positive. So I purchased them (7 pads for £8 / $16). However, I am far from impressed with the results since I have seen limited or no improvement. I am also using the Biore Pore Perfect blackhead fighting cream wash.
Can members please provide other suggestions of products that actually worked for them. I don't mind paying but utimately we all need results!
Thanks, Simon. |

What about black heads on kid's nose? My son is 11 and I have to get these out. They are not large get but one day they will be and then I am afraid they will leave a hole in his skin when he takes them out. Bacteria can get in there and make a little pimple that can last a day or two. He has had these on his nose since about age 8!. I have tried everything. I know I am being picky and some people here have criticized me for being bothered by it but I don't care. He has beautiful skin and he is very good with washing. Even lets me do masks. Do you think I should have a Derm extract them? He is not wild about this and might even prefer if we do it. Steam and try to get out gently. I have tried that before but his skin and nose is so soft and I can't even get around them to squeeze out. I might have him try with one of those instruments. If anyone has found another solution please let me know. |

I have had good results with Emergin C no comedones lotion. Kids don't mind it either because it is watery, doesn't smell. I put it on my son's nose - he is 13. |

I am worried about C's though. They tend to clog my pores. Not sure about this one but others I have tried turn my skin orange and make kind of tacky and greasy. Did you experiment a lot before settling with this one? |

There is no c in this product - the active ingredients are witch hazel, matricaria, arnica and green tea. I was actually really dubious when I got it from my beauty therapist because it is so watery - I put a little onto a small dish then rub it onto my nose. It will last forever. Maybe you could get a sample from a salon that uses emergin C products to try. It will be just wasted applied with a cotton ball. |

I don't think your being picky. What ever you do not squeeze the blackheads on his nose it will leave pot marks. Trust me me I did this when I was younger. I regret doing this as I now have marks on my nose. Casper Mom has some really good suggestions for products, but I'm not sure if these products may be to strong for his young skin.
Caspers mom do you have any suggestions for young skin products. I have a 10 yrs old niece with the same problem. Professional facial perhaps to extract the blackheads? |

I too have lots of sebum plugs on my nose that turn into blackheads if I don't extract them regularly. The best results I have gotten are from using Mario Badescu silver powder then immediately applying a Biore Ultra Strength Nose Strip - this clears my pores out pretty nicely but mine fill back up rather quickly. Using Paula's Choice 2% BHA nightly on my nose does seem to help keep them clear longer though. Good luck. |

They will extract them by squeezing though. You mean just don't do it ourselves? Even if we steam first? Yes I have holes too and that is exactly why I want to see if I can get rid of these on him the right way, if there is one. I do not think I even had these at at such a young age. If he has had these started as tiny dots at 8 and are still there at 11 they will be seriously part of his skin by adulthood and will surely leave a hole or look really gross. |

I second the Paula's Choice BHA. It gets right into your pores and dissolves the oily plugs. It won't work overnight though; you have to consistently use it for several weeks. |

Do you think there is something special about hers? I use someone else's BHA on myself. I was afraid to use on my son |

Theres no need to be afraid of BHA for your son mommiedearest. If your son is a teenager I don't see any problem. Paula's Choice is very gentle and is well formulated...better than a great deal of others. You have to be the judge of how often to use it. Some people use it twice a day, or once per day or once every second day; it depends how your skin reacts to it. Myself, my skin gets a bit dry, so I use it every other day and this seems to be a good choice. |

I do have in a cleanser and a toner type spritz I use on him but obviously he needs something stronger. The stuff I have and use on myself is gentle. It is from I Feel Pretty. Do you know that line? I think I have the two bottom weakest ones. I just thought it might make him super UV sensitive and I don't put sunscreen on him every day. I know we are supposed to but it just ain't gonna happen. If he is outside a lot of course but on days when he catches the bus to school at 7:30 am and comes home at 4 with only a short amount of recess which is on the roof of the building in the shade, I don't do it. His skin would be even worse with the sunscreen because he sweats so much in gym every day. Plus he hates the feeling on his face. I know they get UV from the lights and the computers but we will just have to hope he is ok with all of that. I am more meticulous than any mother I know with the sun screen as it is. So many kids are going to sleep away summer camp without putting sunscreen on if you can believe it! So I just don't want to increase his chances of damage from using this type of thing. We are not always in control and there will be days he is sleeping at another kid's house and he does not put on sunscreen before running out to play in the yard. |
