Hello there! I'm new to this forum but think it's fantastic!!

Anyways, I'm 28, of Chinese origin and have olive skin with a smattering of freckles on my cheeks. I've always had promblematic skin eversince my teens and have been on EVERYTHING recommended by the dermatologist up to the miraculous Roaacutanne.

My skin type is oily especially in the T-zone, normal everywhere else with enlarged pores over nose and nearby region. My forehead has little tiny bumps all over. But my chin region is THE WORST with red patchy areas and prone to breakouts. I suspect I've developed adult acne as well since it's all over my jaw line and most recently under the chin as well.

Currently, I'm using Isotrex gel (Isotretinoin 0.05%)and have been on it for the last 10 years!!! Other than the oral Roaccutane, nothing seems to clear up my skin totally and I always seem to have at least 5-10 belmishes at one time on my face.

I'm REALLLLLLY FED UP cause I thought I would have gotten over my acne troubles by now and am really eager to start wearing make-up but can't.

My skin care regime is as follows:

CLEANSER: Sheisedo Pureness Facial Foam
TONER: Clinique Toner No:2
MOISTURISER: Whatever I find is the LIGHTEST. Currently, SK2 Facial Clear Solution.
I have used MD Formulation's clear gel one as well.
FACIAL BLOTTER: Sheseido powder-less papers

My problem is that the Isotrex dries out my skin totally but I can't use a heavy moisturiser cause I will definately break out in pustules/pimples.

I read with interest about Dermalogica and MD products for those with oily skins on this forum. Are they really that good?

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP cause I'm about to give up on my skin Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Hi there,

I'm not and easthetician but I can give you some suggestions as to how I cleared up my skin.

I am also asian and use to have oily skin and blemishes on my face daily. As soon as one blemish is gone, the next one grows. I know the feeling of having bumps on your face. They are like red/pink dots that use to be in my cheek area and there would be like 10 of them. They look like they're just trapped underneath the top layer of my skin. It drove me crazy. Sometimes it's difficult to remove all the dead blemishes on your skin so maybe get a few facial treatments to remove all those blemishes because my easthetician uses this machine that kills the root of the blemish after it's removed to prevent the same spot from growing another pimple. After a few treatments, you can easily prevent future growth of blemishes by using skincare products that concentrate on problem skin. The products that I use are of Dr. Renaud's products from this website.:

Cleanser: Intervention
Epidermal Cleanser: Phytogel
Toner Lotion: Intervention
Day Cream: Intervention
Night Cream: Intervention

Every morning I would cleanse my face with intervention cleanser, apply toner lotion, and then apply the daycream. At night, I would cleanse my face with the phytogel epidermal cleanser, then cleanse it again with the regular cleanser, apply the toner lotion, then the night cream.

Sometimes blemishes that are trapped underneath the skin stay there forever. After 1-2 weeks of using the epidermal cleanser, the blemishes from underneath my skin started to surface my skin and turned into a pimple. When the pimple were ready to be removed, I removed it and continued doing the same cleansing routine. Do not attempt to remove a pimple if it's not ready. After 3 long weeks, my skin cleared up and best of all it was less bumpy. It's not a miracle because it takes time. It really took about a few month before I noticed a huge difference. Now, I have never been happier with my skin.

Tips:

-avoid touching face throughout the day. We don't realize how often we touch our face because it's so natural but are hands are one of the last things we should let touch our face.

-if ever removing a pimple/s, perform the regular daily cleansing routine immediately after to help cleanse the bacteria in the pimple and help prevent it from spreading

-drink lots of water-that's the true key to beautiful skin. If all of us drank 8 glasses a day, we wouldn't have to spend so much money to take care of our skin.

-cleansing technique is also important because we want to make sure we are cleansing our face well. First, wet face with luke warm water and pour a bit of the cleanser milk into your hands. Massage it in your hands so that your whole hand is completed covered with the milk and massage your face like rubbing a baby's belly...be very gentle and avoid scrubbing your face. Make sure you work the cleanser in a circular motion throughout every spot on your face concentrating in the areas where there's alot of blemishes. After that, make sure you rinse really well with luke warm water.

-When applying day/night cream, use the same technique so that the skin can absorb the cream properly because we want to spread the cream evenly onto the skin.

-Avoid eating too much spicy food.

-Never skip any morning or night cleansing.

-Get lots of rest. We all need our beauty sleep.

I have a sister who used to have major acne problems and she's been using Dr. Renaud's Intervention line for about 6 months or more. Her skin is almost perfectly clear. Sometimes, not all products will work for everyone but if you're still having skin problems even after using the products you are using now, then you should maybe try a new line. The one thing I love about Dr. Renaud is her products maintains moisture in your skin, so it doesn't dry it up. However, we have to monitor the changes in our skin's moisture through every season. For example in the winter, you might wanna try using a lighter cleanser that doesn't dry out your skin. By accomodating your skin changes, your skin will receive the best care. If we use a cleanser that doesn't dry our skin out in the summer, then it might not work for our skin in the winter. As a result, we could end up with superduper dry and sensitive skin that will end up reacting to the weather possibly causing irritation and breakouts. I love these products and I'm sure you won't be disappointed because I know quite a few people who use this line and absolutely love it. I wish you the best luck in finding what is best for you.

Best Regards,
anhtutu22 Very Happy

Don't give up just yet!!!! You definetly came to the right place cause the people on here are so friendly & knowledgable.

In my opinion, I think you should try the Dermalogica line. I think they may even have a small starter kit you can try at first for oily/problem skin.

They tiny bumbs on your forehead would be helped by the Daily Microfoliant and the Active Moist is oil free moisture. I have tried a few of there products and was very happy with them.

Celine,

If you don't have sensitive skin then the MD Formulations stuff would be good to try. When I started a routine with MDF products, I got rid of the tiny little bumps under the skin on my forehead. I used the Glycolic Cleanser, Lotion and Clearing Complex (for spot treatment). I don't use these anymore but do use the Clearing Complex Mask as a regular preventative measure.

But I can also recommend Dermalogica Microfoliant, Oil Control Lotion and Medicated Clearing Gel as well.

Plus, Decleor and YonKa both have some good products based on natural ingredients that might help as well (aka Decleor Essential Balm, YonKa Juvenil and YonKa Cream 15).

Also, I keep reading raves for Jan Marini Bioglycolic Bioclear lotion when it comes to adult acne. I haven't tried this myself though.
