I ordered some azalex because I know my skin is not going to be able to handle all the glycolic acid that keeps my acne at bay in the dry winter.
anyone have experience with this? do you use it as a spot treatment or all over? I hear it's a great antiinflammatory, which would be awesome since I only get that sort of acne, although it's quite mild. |

Hi waffle!
I used Azalex years ago for acne. I cannot say for sure how well it works against acne since it was used in combination with Differin and topical antibiotics. However, my skin did very well with this combination. I used it all over not as a spot treatment. I have very senstive skin which does not tolerate regular use of acids like glyolic, lactic, mandelic. Yet I never had a problem with the Azalex.

I've used azelex for about 1 yr. It works really well all over my face and as a spot treatment for cysts. I use it in conjunction with a retinoid and my skin stays fairly clear and hassle free. |

Hi waffle,
I used prescription Azalex (can't remember the %) years ago in middle school and high school. I also used it as part of a treatment of oral antibiotics. If I am remembering correctly it seems that it made my skin extra sensitive and it stung a bit but I can't remember if I was using another treatment like differin as well. I was also on a year round swim team so my skin was already very sensitive from it. I am interested in trying it again but I am strongly considering ordering azalaic acid from GoW and making my own formula. I just don't like the base prescription formulas use. I used it all over and if I were to use it again, I would use it all over as well. I think it's a good preventative treatment.
What azalex product did you order? |

Waffle my dear, I use finacea which I believe is pretty much the same thing as Azelex. I just love it--- it's great for inflammation, but it doesn't cause the same dryness and peeling that taz does if I'm not careful. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like it! |

thanks guys! I already use JM bioclear, which has 2% azaleic acid, so I'm looking forward to what 20% can do. I ordered Skinoren from inhouse pharmacy (it's a new zealand version of azalex). It was really very cheap, so no biggie if it doesn't work out...but I hope it does! |

waffle, could you please do me a favor? If you can remember, could you post the inactive ingredients of Skinoren when you get yours? I can't seem to find a listing of them online. Thanks. |

sure --
arlatone 9835, cutina CBS, cetearyl octanoate, propylene glycol, glycerol, benzoic acid, water.
no idea at all what those first couple of ingredients are -- weird! It also says something about an 'oil and water' emulsion. It's pretty heavy, but my skin is dry so it's a bonus for me. |
