YOu can get the HQ crystals at some places and mix yourself. I did it, but never had much luck. Search at some bulk actives type web sites. A good tip is to just mix a little of the crystals into your 4% cream. A compounding chemist could also make you up a cream in a higher %.

If you have damaged your skin with a TCA peel do you really think it advisable to use a dangerous chemical on top of it?

HQ is banned in many countries and mixing your own concoction is just plain barking if you value your skin at all!

i agree with guapagirl, you should be givin the skin time to heal then applying a chemical as such. I wouldnt recommend to use HQ at all, but if u really do want to i reckon to give your skin some healing time first else you will end up irritating your skin more and it will end up causing more pigmentation!

what color is your skin color? Just be careful with lasers and or IPL as they have some limitations for certain skin colors and may cause you damage than any benefits

Hope the 4% works out for you!

Hi Londongirl, I know how you feel. I too have pigmentation on my cheeks, which as to yet no product has managed to rid off. It was from a laser resurfacing procedure. I too would like a higher hyroquinone than 4%. I know people warn about hydrquinone but obagi is a popular skincare regime and that has 4%!! I used to have flawless skin that needed no makeup until this happened and its very frustrating. I would love to try 8% - even if its for short term. I live in the UK and no pharmacies here compound such things.

exactly!

i have heard the problems with hydroquinnoe and it seems like it is if you use the products for a long period of time which i dont intend on doing
ad if you use the product whilst in the sun as well

if you were to use a higher percentage i would be very careful to get a really high spf so as to not darken the skin even more

i have heard ipl isnt as aggressive as some of the other lasers that can leave scars but i wont know until i go for my consultaion with the dr

You must be very careful with this. I got horrible hyperpigmentation from HQ a few years ago. I was wearing a sunscreen (probably not applying it often enough) but it is always possible to forget from time to time. It took a long time to get rid of.

Use the Dermaroller. I and others (see the thread in Tools and DIY) have seen real improvement in pigmentation. This does not involve the use of hazardous chemicals AND helps the actives you are using penetrate better.

Here is a link to a clinical study on hyperpigmantation treatments with hydroquinone:
http://www.skinandaging.com/supplements/pdf/1005SkinMedSupp.pdf

Based on the article the preferred HQ cream is Eloquine, it contains 4% HQ. you can get it from MedsMex, maybe from some other online sellers.

I do not have hyperpigmentation, but had two freckles on my face that I spot treated with Eloquine, and had good results, now one freckle completely disappeared, and the other one faded a lot.

I don't know if this comes in 8%.

However, whether it is 4% or if 8% is available, you have to have the patience to wait for the results. Good results do not come overnight. It takes time. It is a long process and when you get your results, please make sure that you maintained it....

With 8% and not using regularly or continously, the dark spots might be back, but with 4% and using it daily, might take a longer time, but slowly and surely will brighthen up.

I agree with you completely. It takes time to have good skin using the right products. Once your skin is damaged by TCA peel, give your skin some time to heal....
