My ten year old daughter already has horrible skin, and I am determined to help her keep it under control so she doesn't get teased. She already feels self conscious about her skin, and at her age she should not have to worry about it above all other things.

Anyway, I have tried to use some of my products on her and everything seems to fail. I prefer to use all natural products, but we are also looking for results. The persagel that has by clean and clear seems to work somewhat, but she has some deep blackheads that I can't seem to get out.

We have not tried ProActiv, since I hate when companies make you sign up for repeat shipments and automatic billing. It always screams scam to me.

If anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them...Thanks!! Very Happy

If you are a Canadian the Shopping Channel sells ProActive every two months as a show stopper or you can buy it on their web site with no obligations for repeat shipments.

Also, you can e-mail Kate at EDS and ask her for some suggestions. Yesterday when I called in to pay for my order I was asking her about product suggestions for my husbands oily skin. She e-mail me back with tons of product suggestions.
I've also noticed on the forum raves about the Yonka juvenil line.

My dd is 9 almost 10 and she started to get acne. Her skin is generally good but pimples started appearing on her forehead and occasionally on her nose. I spotted the pimples with Clearasil and then started using my Tazorac on her forehead and nose. I has completely cleared the problem. I now every two-three days use the Taz and the problem has not returned. She has blondish hair and her skin gets red rash when exposed to strawberries without washing her face after but she has not had any reaction to the Taz.

You might want to check out what some on the forum have had to say about my query re "adolescent acne". Very helpful.

I suggest you take her to a Dermatologist. You can spend hundreds of dollars on skin care before you find out what works best for your little girl. One doctor's visit might be all she needs to get on the right routine for her skin.

Good luck and let us know what products work well for her.

My 18 yr. old daughter has used Vichy Normaderm and La Roche Posay Effaclar line. The Normaderm line may be drying for your daughter so I would suggest the Effaclar line. It is a very gentle but effective line. The gel cleanser has an anti bacterial ingredient to kill the bacteria that causes acne. Apply the cleanser on wet skin and leave it on your skin for 1-2 minutes and rinse off. Effaclar K is great to apply to the areas that are prone to break outs. It gently exfoliates and clears the pores. Effaclar matt oil free moisturizer will help hydrate her skin to prevent dehydration. Good luck. hth

I second the Effaclar line -- it's very gentle, yet incredibly effective. You can also try Bioderma Sebium. However, like Winnie said, it's probably best to take her to a derm first.

Don't use chemicals or those product lines. Your daughter is still young using these can damage her skin and make her skin bad when she is an adult. Try using an easy regimen if you must have use store bought products a really good line with lots of reviews and raves is Juice Organics. I highly suggest trying out light treatments i.e. Tanda, Light Stim, Baby Quasar

i would suggest bringing your daughter to a dermatologist. There are a lot of products out there and some may work for your daughter but most of those products out there will not work for your daughter. Your dermatologist can prescribe a topical cream for your daughters acne and save your hundreds of dollars. I have tried many products for my acne like ProActiv, but Proactiv seemed to be really harsh and drying on my skin and it did not work

I would stay proactive and other acne products containing benzoyl peroxide (google this ingredient, it's bad). jan marini has a line, bioclear, which works well from all the reviews and i recently purchased the bioclear cream for my sister (she's 19).

I was given samples of Bioderma Sebium gel cleanser and moisturizer for my daughter to try. She's only used them a couple of times so I don't know how effective they will be to control her breakouts but she said the products are very gentle. She's going to stay with this line for now since it seems to be the mildest of all the lines she has tried and see how it goes. Good luck with everything and I hope you can get in to see a dermatologist.

Thanks for the great advice everyone. The dermatologist was my last resort, but I may have to give in. When I was younger I was put on antibiotics and RetinA. None of this seemed to help me and I believe that the antibiotics weakened me physically, since now I have immune system problems. Anyway, thanks again!!!

My son is having good results with the PSF acne mud and it isn't too pricey either.
