I am really confused now, because Nanci fromwww.ncnproskincare.com DOES recommend it strongly to use their DPL system. Or are they talking about different things?

I have real doubts about lasers, laser resurfacing, and various types of microwave and intense light systems.
Recent research from many labs has found that stem cells for the skin come from the vellus hair follicles and lasers damage these. These stem cells are needed for skin renewal. The laser companies know this and are in a quiet panic over it. Every year, for the past 10 years, they come up with a new laser which claims to solve the problems of previous lasers.
Microwaves and heating lamps are similar. They slightly burn the skin and hope the rebuilding response helps the skin.
But many people tell me that about three years after laser resurfacing, microwaves, or heating lamps, That their skin looks worse than ever.
For studies see http://www.consumerbeware.com/studies.htm.
There are no studies on the long term action of lasers or heating systems on skin health. No laser company is going to fund studies on these potentially negative effects.
Skin is a delicate biological system. These methods are used by people who do not understand the skin and this includes many dermatologists.
If you have it done, I think it is imperative to quickly repair the skin with SRCPs - which increase follicle size - to keep stem cell production up. We find using CP Serum (very lightly) and Emu Oil for Skin, helps recovery after lasers and skin heating systems.[url] |

DPL is red and infrared light. He doesn't appear to be referring to that, but stronger, more intense forms of energy and light. |

THUD.
That is pretty scary stuff. Does anyone else out there have any thoughts? Would love to hear more opinions - both professional and lay...as well as anyone who can talk from experience.
Thanks

Melanie, he referred this note to DPL Light System, which is red and infrared light, no?
Also, in another post he mentioned that alternatively you can just sit in the sun for 15 minutes every day. But my skin gets burned even with sunscreen sometimes... |

Dr. P subsequently added a post saying the latest studies indicated that light therapies had a therapeutic effect on the skin.
The quote from him by Russian Sunshine is an old one, before he posted his update.
This subject was of interest to me as a user of CPs and DPL. I experienced a big difference in my skin after using the DPL for about a month (have mature skin so effects took a wee bit longer) & was familiar with his cautious views of these devices.
Half way thru' the month, I noticed he updated his views. I suggest everyone check out that posting rather than accept the older view as definitive. |

Russian Sunshine, I didn't even notice the note above his post! However, DPL does not qualify as any of the things he mentioned (laser, microwave, intense light). I'm so glad arya cleared it up, though. I use infrared and would have been very concerned to see Dr. Pickart criticize that specifically. |

Yes, he posted this note in 2004, but how much can change since then, it is just 3 years, not 23 !
New studies appeared...? Also, in his updated views he mentions that you can alternatively sit in the sun for 15 minutes every day.
I have no doubt that this device can have positive short -term effects, I just worry about long-term ... |

Well, I suppose one could pose the same question about CPs - actually, some have. They see Copper as toxic. All I can add at this point is that his forum has so many new and positive entries and study quotes now on DPL/LED therapies that if you still have concerns for yourself, that is a personal matter.
None of us wants to suggest that people must buy one of these units. I along with others am just sharing my personal experience.

If nobody would have any concerns, that forum would not exist. |
