For those of you that tried this brand before, can you pls help me in choosing the right shade. I'm so confused as there are many shades there. Also, how is the finish like for this MMU? Does it accentuate pores and lines? Thanks.  |

I've tried a few samples from Lauress and I've found Gentle Ivory a good match and Subtle Ivory to be an almost a perfect match. I'm about MAC NC20 for reference. Out of all the MMUs I've tried, Lauress gives the best finish...radiant with medium coverage (not glowy and shiny like BE) and not matte or cakey (like Alima or Lumiere) at all. However, I find that it stings my skin quite a bit when I sweat, but then again ALL MMUs I've tried do sting my skin when I'm sweaty (with Alima being the worst, and Lauress a not-so-close second). I'd highly recommend it if you generally don't have problems with MMUs. So far, I haven't found any MMU that provides a better finish than Lauress.
For reference, I've tried Lauress, Lily Lolo, Jane Iredale, Alima, Everyday Minerals, Lumiere, and Laura Mercier. Maybe a few more, but I can't think of the names right now. Hope that helps a bit. |

Thanks andaman_gypsy, that helps a lot. I was comparing the ingredients of Lauress MMU with the other brands. Lauress seems to be the one that has Zinc Oxide as their 1st ingredient whereas others have Titanium Dioxide or Mica as their 1st ingredient.
So Gentle Ivory and Subtle Ivory are not too yellowish on the skin? It looks quite yellow on the screen. What kind of skintone do you have? Mine is light with both pink & yellow undertones I believe.
I noticed that you tried Lily Lolo too. I'm also interested in it. So what's the difference between the two then in terms of the texture and finish? |

I honestly don't know much about what ingredients do what on my skin. All I know is all MMUs I've tried cause some stinging when I'm sweaty, but some are much worse than the others (Alima BURNS my skin whereas Jane Iredale and Lily Lolo only cause slight stinging).
I'm Asian with mixed yellow and neutral tones. I don't find the Ivory range too yellow at all. It seems to brighten up my complexion yet still looks natural. I'd say it's more of a neutral tone with a bit of warmth in it which is great for my skin tone. Hmmm...I don't know how to describe it. I wouldn't say it's a "perfect" match for my skin tone, BUT it's an excellent match that compliments my skin tone. It somehow makes my skin look radiant and flawless. I find that with Lily Lolo foundations, they're either too yellow or too pink.
In terms of coverage, Lily Lolo provides a much sheerer coverage which I prefer, but I couldn't find a color match that I was satisfied with so I started looking into Lauress. Lauress provides a bit heavier coverage, yet doesn't feel heavy on the skin at all (unlike Lumiere). It conceals imperfections well, too. Texture-wise, Lauress is more finely-milled and creamier, yet not oily. It seems to be better at controlling shine than Lily Lolo. If you prefer a mineral foundation that is like a light dust for loose powder (almost no coverage, but evens out your skin tone), I'd recommend Lily Lolo if you can find a color match. However, if you prefer a foundation that makes your skin flawless, but also makes it seem like you have nothing but a light dust of loose powder on your face, Lauress is an excellent choice.

Hi! Lauress has a 20% off sale right now!
So I'm hoping there are some more colour match suggestions, because, yes, they have quite a lot of shades..
I am medium light neutral with apricot undertones and cant stand any pinkness and look ashy with any coolness.
I couldnt find a colour match at all at Lumiere, and I am half way between frisky and naughty chartreux at Meow. Actually.. I seem to usually have to tweak any and every mmu, to get it the right shade..
Anyhow, just hoping there are some more Lauress - experienced members out there, willing to share their colour matches.  |

| For apricot tones you should try the Ginger range. This is their peach range. You might also want to try the Tans which are neutral without pink undertones. I wear the Ivory or Gold ranges and love the finish. I can't wait to try the new minimalist also. The new kits are a great deal, I love the customize them yourself idea, like EDM offers. LaurEss has made major improvements with this new site I am so happy cause they are by far my fav company out there. |

I haven't tried their MMU yet although I'm very tempted. But I'm trying to withhold myself in finishing my Everyday Mineral & Merle Norman MMU first. I just checked their site and they came out with a new foundation called Minimalist which is supposed to be for oilier skin. Anyone tried it yet & how is it compared to their Elemental foundation? They also have Primers & Finishers which I'm confused over. I was wondering if I can use the Primer as a Finisher or vice versa...don't know if they make much difference or not in terms of the overall appearance. Or they're just trying to sell 2 different items?  |

The stinging of the skin could be from using a brush to apply especially an animal hair one. Natural ones are much softer though they dont pick up as well depending on the minerals. Works great for mineral blushes though.
The overzealous buffing can be a factor as it can cause tiny tears in the skin. I use a flocked sponge now and its so much better for my face. |
