I know we all have very different skin types and thus use different types of products, but I thought this video on serums was interesting. I know a lot of people have caught on to these products too Do you guys see any big benefits from using a serum vs. lotion/cream and vice versa? |

I could not find the video you were referring to on serum but I do prefer serums over creams. I think serums can have more effective ingredients and they usually come in pump bottles which I definitely prefer. |

My understanding is serums are for oily type skin and creams are for dry skin. |

Its a matter of personal preference. Some people like a light application, others like lotions and creams for a slightly heavier feel to the skin. |

Sorry about that! Did my link not work? Sometimes I get so goofed up with technology! If you still want to see it, go to the Better.tv website and the video is on the Beauty channel and is called Face Serums.
I use both, but I don't really prefer one over the other. I have really picky skin, so I use them for different purposes. |

serum is too drying and having it alone will be too strong for face, you need the cream/lotion to moisture your skin |

I have combo/acne prone skin and I use to slather lotions and/or creams on my face because I thought dry skin would be more prone to wrinkles. Since I switched to serums my skin is more clear with less visible pores. Of course everyone's skin is different and some people with dryer skin may need more moisturizers than most serums offer. The serums just happen to work really well for me and I wouldn't have gone this route without the suggestion from my dermatologist. |

I use both serum and cream after cleaning and toning. |

I think it really depends on the individual products. Not all serums are drying while not all creams are heavy. Those in most cases are just names. From my experience, many serums tend to have a lot of silicone, which can make the skin sticky. But it still varies with products. |

I'm oily/combo and use a gel/serum type moisturizer during the day but a heavier cream at night.
Both work really well for me...though I'd never use the cream during the day...I'm not sure how it would fair under makeup. But that said, I've not had any breakouts from the cream and I don't wake up greasy like I have with previous products. |
