Does anyone know any high % of zinc oxide (10% & over) sunscreen? Preferrably no chemical ingredients in it. Thanks! |

Yes, if you are looking for a sunscreen that can also be used as a make-up (like a liquid foundation), these are some you can look into -
DHC Moist Color Base has an SPF of 30, four different colors, the one I have is 20% zinc oxide, 11.3% titanium dioxide, most of the other colors are around that %, very reasonably priced.
Also, I use Lucrece tinted clear zinc solar protection SPF 30, 12.5% Zinc Oxide, but I have to warn you it is extremely over priced!!
The Linda Sy you posted about also has a high %, I've tried it & I don't use it because I like Lucrece's better as a foundation.
Hope that helps - |

Thanks Girlzmommie for replying. Where do you get the Lucrece? And how much is it? Do you have a list of their ingredients? I hope it doesn't contain silicones cuz it sorta congests my pores. Thanks |

Sorry, it has silicones in it (most liquids do).
It can be anywhere from $55-$75 a tube, I get mine in N.Y.C..
The DHC has silicones as well - maybe you need to stick to mineral make-up if cones are an issue for you.
Good luck- |

I second the Devita, that stuff is my HG all the way -- much better consistency than most SS, physical OR chemical. |

I've been meaning to ask, but keep forgetting. Do you another moisturizer underneath this or do you use it on its own? I'm asking as from what I've read on Devita's website, it's meant to be a moisturizer with sun protection in it. Thanks! |

For me it depends -- in the summer I often use just that, and in the winter I often apply a moisturizer or just a facial oil underneath.
Right now that's my habit -- I use a macadamia nut oil blend and let that (plus my eye cream normally, except I had to throw it out) sit a bit, and then apply my Devita last of all after the oil has had a chance to sink in some.
If my skin is happy and hydrated, though, I don't really need it. It's great for summer when you get greasy and need moisture but don't want weight. But my skin is rarely without flakes and dryness in the winter. |

I would suggest Remergent SPF30 or Osmosis Shelter. Shelter has no white cast, is not oily and goes on with a matt finish. It has the following ingredients:
* Phosphatidylcholine
* Zinclear (20%)
* Shea butter
* Catalase
* Superoxide Dismutase
* L-Glutathione
* Sorbitan Palmitate (from olive oil)
* Sorbitan Olivate (from olive oil)
* Cetyl Palmitate (from olive oil)
* L-sodium lactate
* L-sodium PCA
* Hyaluronic acid
* Lemon Essential Oil
* Sweet Orange Essential Oil
* Lime Essential Oil
* Sorbic acid
* Naturotics
* Japanese Honeysuckle
* Liquid Crystals |

It is really good as both a sunscreen and a moisturiser as it contains some of the ingredients that are in the DNA Repair. This is just my opinion, but I think a company that has studied the effects of sun damage and has a treatment for skin cancer, should be able to produce a sunscreen with good protection. |

I really like SVR 50 from skincarecentral.biz. It has a spf 50, ppd 20, all physical, and tinted. It's a great tint for my fair skin so I don't need concealer and leaves a dewy finish. It is absolutely my HG!!! |

I use this one. It is NOT greasy at all, but very light. I was very surprised at just how light it is. Dont let the ingredient list fool you.

I have been looking at getting the Devita one and am very tempted. I have only tried a few sunscreens but am bothered by the greasy finish they leave and I keep reading about how the Devita one is so nice and light. I was wondering though - do those who use it find that it works well at preventing not only sunburn but freckles/skin darkening? I am hoping to find a sunscreen that's effective against both UVA and UVB that I don't dislike using. |

Thanks, ginnieliz. From what you and Kristen have been saying, this moisturizer sounds really light, so I guess it'll be ok for me to wear it on top of a moisturizer. Too bad I missed the sale on Internatural! |

andaman_gypsy,
I'm checking this out on the Internatural site and it's on sale for 30% off this month (price is $15.37) which I think is even better than the last sale. It looks like it is out of stock until 12/19 though so you'd have to wait a few weeks for its arrival. I'm seriously thinking about trying it out myself.
Looks like you can't pre-order it either, will have to check back at the site after the 19th. |

Thanks for the info! I read on another thread that the sale was over and the product was out of stock, so I didn't bother looking again. I'm gonna have to check it out again next month. I'd like to try it out, but I'm also concerned about the UVA protection it provides. |

If you guys wanna check the Devita thread (it's been the most "main" one we have, I think), I posted the only info I have about the particle size. Haven't had time to look into anything else, and I'm not sure what I'd come up with if I did, but that might help some of you decide! |

Thanks ginnielizz for posting the link. That thread had a lot of new stuff added since the last time I checked it. Still no definitive answer about the UVA protection though like you said. I would just feel better if somebody who used it could say they did not freckle/tan when outdoors with this on. It would be great to find an effective sunscreen that isn't greasy. I think once Internatural gets some more in I'm going to try it anyway and see for myself. I'm hoping it will be adequate for day-to-day activities in which I'm not outside all the time. |

Heya mamawalnut, for what it's worth I had posted a blurb somewhere saying I don't tan in Devita (I don't remember if it was in that thread or another), and I still find that to be the case. I'm not certain that that means it's perfectly safe coverage-wise, but I'm very fair and prone to burning easily, and I sat in hot July sun for a couple of midday hours this summer and had nothing to show for it. Hope this helps! |

Thanks ginnielizz, that actually helps a lot. I've spent lots of time researching trying to find that "perfect" sunscreen only to find the ones I've tried leave me so greasy that I end up wearing no sunscreen at all unless I'm going to be outside a lot. If you've been out in it and haven't burned or tanned then it's worth a shot to me even if the exact PPD level hasn't been determined yet. Thanks for your help! |
