Hi,
A few days ago I had a facial and microdermabrasion, and now my face has totally broken out. The lady did extractions, I have red marks remaining.
Is this normal? The woman who did my facial, is really famous here in NY, and does heaps of celebs. So I thought she would be a safe bet!
Is there anything I can do to help the situation?
I am never doing that again that's for sure. |

Geez, I'd be peeved off too. Well, other than gentle cleansing and the use of Cortaid for a couple days, thats all I would do. Irritation to the skin is never good; I have to question the facialist's integrity for even doing the two together. |

I would go back and show it to her, but I think that could be normal because underneath your skin was really congested, but I would still go show it to her asap.
Please let me know how she responded to your concerns.
How much did it cost for one treatment with her? |

Thanks for your responses!
My skin looks a bit better today... I put some Egyptian Magic Cream on it last night, and some MSM lotion with aloe.
I think I might call her and ask what I should do.
I had the "diamond peel micro" and together with the facial it came to around $400.
You can have the treatments separately, but she recommended both. I thought it would give better results. |

I agree with everyone else - go back and talk to her. |

me too! she's the expert and I would think it's likely that she's observed the reaction in other clients and so will know what to do... |

I would definitely go for a follow-up consultation. |

I'm afraid to put Egyptian Magic on my face. I think that would aggravate my acne. |

I would have thought so as well, but it actually helps when I have a breakout. I gave some to a friend for a burn she had, and she decided to try it on a pimple, and it went away super fasted. So now she is hooked.
The ingredients are very medicinal. Bee products are the main focus, and really raw unfiltered honey on a pimple really helps. |

I would be calling her in the morning to find out if it was ok to use these products on your skin. Did she not give you instructions on what to use? IMO - If she didn't that's not very professional. |

She gave me a blemish gel and a resurfacing serum. I'm a bit scared to use the products though, because my skin is used to non-chemical products. I'm testing the products in small dosages. After my facial I just wanted to go back to my old routine, because I liked my skin before my facial. That's why I've been avoiding her products. I'm used to products with high oil content (cream cleansers, facial oils etc), her products are the opposite. |

Even if you don't go back there, you could take some photos and send them to her, together with a formal complaint. I have 6 weekly facials and come away with my skin feeling much clearer, less clogged and maybe sometimes I have a pimple come through a few days later. When I contact my beaty therapist, she usually gives some good tips and has asked for me to pop in to show her. She usually then gives me something free of charge to apply. For $400 you really need to let her know what has happened to your skin and how reluctant you are to go back, let alone try her product recommendations. |

I've never had a micro abrasion, but isn't there some sort of chemicals in it? |

I have never had a facial but I do get regular microdermabrasion treatments and my skin always looks fantastic afterwards. The look is very healthy with a really nice glow and my skins feels so soft and smooth. Unfortunately this only lasts for about one week and requires regular treatments to maintain the benefits, but I have never walked away with my face looking worse rather than better. I agree with the others, contact the women who performed your treatments and request a follow-up consult. BTW $400 for one microdermabrasion & one facial is outrageous! I get 6 Micro treatments for under that - if you want to do either of these treatments again in the future I would suggest you call around and request some package pricing, it could save you a lot of money. |

Did she or you apply anything to your face after the treatment? I was told using anything after is a no-no...maybe a product gave you the reaction.
I would totally go back and let her see the outcome.
So sorry you had a bad experience. |

My skin is getting better finally.
I'm just not sure that extractions are right for everyone... My skin marks very easily...
I called the place and told them. They said to just stick with the routine she gave me (her products)... They said I could come in and show them, but I don't really think it's worth it. At least she cleaned out my pores I guess!! I'm just going back to my old products that my skin seems to like.
I really appreciate all of the suggestions! |
