What can I use to hide my pores and give my skin texture a perfected look? I dont want to wear foundation or makeup. Should I use a neutral colored primer? I heard this can help. Or a pore minimizer? Or just an anti-shine cream? Please let me know which product you love. I would rather get something from EDS, but I also go to Sephora a lot. Thanks! |

Hi, there are many great primers out there. I really like Cle de Peau one, comes in a stick form, works like magic, pricey though. Also Avon's Magix one is great, good price as well, hths. (my current favourite is one by Sisley, but is is ++ $$). |

Unfortunately for me, I have large pores so if I want them hidden, I need to use all of:
Primer
Liquid Foundation
Finishing Powder |

Thanks for the tips. Anyone else love their primer? |

I like Smashbox primer as a base for my foundation. I find that Monistat is good also as a primer and much cheaper - $8 at Wal-Mart. |

YSL Complexion Enhancer and Smashbox Primer are both good foundation base. |

Instead of hiding your pores you could try treating them long term with Retin-A.
If you still want to cover them up then try Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector - I'm also a fan of the Monistat Chafing Gel. |

I actually use Retin A. It definately helps but they are still somewhat visible. Which is why I like to attack them in 2 different ways. Does the chaffing gel cause any clogged pores? Its very reasonably priced! I think ill try that since there is nothing to lose really. I wonder how it compares to the other more expensive pore minimizers? |

I recommend the Almond & Apple line of L'occitane.
The almond offers skin its firming, nourishing and softening proprieties through its extracts. The result is improved elasticity, and the smoothing of fine lines.
The Apple offers skin its cosmetic virtues: it tightens pores, smoothes and protects the skin from free-radicals. |

OK ive looked into the monistat. It seems interesting. But it seems most people put makeup over it. If i just use it alone, does it still hide pores even though its clear? |

I think every primer or pore minimizer is meant to be worn under makeup so you might have a problem there. The Monistat does dry completely clear but, I think, would look better with some makeup on top. You could just try a very light dusting of mineral makeup or a tinted moisturiser. |

Basically I just want that natural airbrushed look... but not with the makeup. I like Estee Lauder Idealist but I dont want to pay for it. Since it is mostly silicone based I thought maybe using somthing with silicone like a silicone based primer would give me that perfected but natural look. Thanks for the tips. |

To hide pores, I guess the primer has to be tinted or reflects lights. I don't think smashbox (clear color) or YSL enhancers (I have these) would work. Laura Mercier has some good primer/TM. My current fav is Shu Emura's. Japanese products are really good at covering up pores, controlling oil, etc. |

Sorry I know this thread is old. Can the Monistat be applied over moisturizer as an anti-shine gel? |

I can't believe it but I just bought the monistat. Honestly though, I am disappointed with it. I would not recommend it because it is weird and goopy, and although it is mattifying it doesnt really fill in pores very well... Oh well, good thing it was only 7 dollars :P |

If Monistat is not what you are looking for, then there is no need for you to spend around $40 on a Smashbox primer. It is as good as the Monistat gel at hiding pores and, for me, it works only if used as a foundation base. I looked into the Estee Lauder Idealist product you mentioned: it is expensive. It seems you tried it and were happy with it? |

Yes a few years ago I received a large sample and was very impressed with it. I recall a scent though... these days I try to avoid fragrances but other than that, yes it worked well indeed. I think you could probably try it out at sephora. It gave my face a perfected matt look. |

Amonavis - thanks. I will try Sephora to see if they hand out samples. It is funny how all products must be applied on clean face...this one too. I will have to figure out which of my many creams/serums should go first ... |

I have the same problem and I could see a great improvement when I really took care of my self and my skin. I used Md Formulations (products with AHA) and Cellex-C vitamin C-serum and did facials every 6:th week or something. Along with this I avoided sugar, fast food, coffee, milk etc, but I think you can get very far with the right products. Retinol would probably work very well too.
Thank you people, for the advice on primers concerning this! I've tried Estée Lauders Idealist, but it wasn't for me. |
