New year, new beauty products. I'm in a shopping mood. I was perusing my local Sephora yesterday picking up some new toys, and a decent powder blush was on my list. Usually when I'm in there, I get sucked in to buying some crazy gel blush like Tarte Blushing Bride or Benetint. For some reason, the IDEA of these blushes really appeals to me (so natural and fresh looking!), but when I get them home, they are such a pain to apply that they always end up gathering dust in my makeup graveyard. So yesterday I resolved to stick to a nice, practical, easy powder that I can really use every day. I asked the sales associate for a rec, and she steered me right to the Nars Orgasm, which I have heard about for years but stubbornly refused to even look at due to all the hype, not to mention the blatant attempt at selling, well, orgasms. I guess you could call me the anti-lemming? Anyway, all I can say is wow. What took me so long? Beautiful powder formula that slides onto my skin like silk. Gorgeous, super-flattering, very natural-looking shade. The sales associate told me that Sephora sells one of these every 8 seconds, and now I can see why. LOVE it. Sometimes it pays to be a lemming!

I love this blush too! For several years it was named as the most universally flattering blush color by InStyle magazine -- that's why I ended up trying it.

I have it as well and like bugaboo I only use it in the summer. It is a very lovely shade!

I really like the shade but must have got a dud when I bought mine. I LOVE Stila blushes, they are just so soft and go on so easily. This is what I expected from NARS as well but my blush is hard as rock and I have to seriously work the brush into it to get ANY pigment on it. I actually use one of those spooly (clean) mascara brushes on the surface of it sometimes just to agitate it enough to get some loose powder off it. It's been like this since brand new so I can only assume, given the popularity of it, that it's actually meant to be soft and finely milled

Sad

I think the reason Sephora sells so much of it, is because they recommend it HEAVILY!!! I was also steered to the Nars Orgasm, but the color was a bit washed out on me (I was still a bit tanned), so on advice I purchased CRAZED. It is an absolutely gorgeous color, but the pigment is so strong, I can barely use it!! One light swipe with a blush brush, then a dab on a tissue to rid excess, and it's still a bit much. I am guessing with this blush you have to have a very subtle match/accent in order to use it like most other blushes.

Like I said, I love this product, but like most products, it irritates my skin. I get red bumps that last a day or two. The only skincare lines I can use effectively are dr. H and lorac. some dior and some neutrogena.

I agree with lovyourskin...it is recommended so much that lots of people really think this color is a suit-all color.
I disagree upon that notion, because as a NW 25 (ish) I find the color to be much too warm for my skintone to look natural.
Further more, the shimmer is OTT for my post-acne skin for daytime use. I do like to wear similar colors during nighttime, but I disagree that this color is a natural looking color on someone with my coloring

Mabsy, if I were you I would try returning your "DUD" to the store you purchased it from! One thing I can say about the Nars blush & the shadows that I have, is that you need only a very light swipe once across the product. It would seem something is very wrong with yours, and I am sure any store selling the Nars line would recognize that right away!!!

I love the mental image I am getting of a "makeup graveyard" haha Very Happy

I bought Orgasm on a whim but it wasn't quite dark enough for me to use as a blush. My sister was thrilled when I gave it away to her, though!

I love this blush, I only use it in the summer though otherwise it is too sparkly for me. For an everyday NARS blush I use amour- it is a lovely natural shade for my dark skin. I have bought so many NARS products, lipsticks, lipstains, blushes, eyeshadows, cream eyeshadows, brushes. I love them all. The only thing I'm not too hot about is their foundation. Its expensive and doesn't provide much coverage at all.

Heh, I always thought "Orgasm" was a bit of a ridiculous Sex Sells campaign, but then I saw that another shade is called "Deep Throat". SERIOUSLY? COME on! I mean, "Orgasm" was kinda cutesy, but actually referencing fellatio in your branding strikes me as a bit over-the-top, haha. Mabye I'm just a blush prude. Laughing

Indeed, but the problem is that I've had it for a while before I realised that what I have is perhaps not what it's supposed to be. Also, I bought this when it was very difficult to get in Australia so ended up getting it online (from SAKS I think) which is a bit difficult to return. I guess I'll keep going with my mascara spooly to loosen it up - I do like the shade!

I can relate. I didn't even look at it because of the hype. I let the SA person put it on me once and I was addicted! It looks so refreshing!

Milani Luminous is also a nice dupe. The new release of this blush is even prettier in my opinion.

NARS Sin powder blush is a deeper, richer version of Orgasm that many darker skin tones prefer over the lighter Orgasm blush. Sin is often paired with the Casino bronzer. If Orgasm doesn't show up well on your skin, you might want to sample Sin.

I got this blush recently after hearing about it for years but avoiding it due to the common complaint of too much shimmer. I love it! Is a light color but I am fair skinned so that works well for me. I didn't find the shimmer to be too much indoors but I will have to check it out when I'm outside to be for sure. This is my first NARS blush (I have a couple of their highlighters) and if I can get over the price I will definitely be trying more.

i went on my first trip to sephora this past september and HAD to try orgasm. i have pretty fair skin.. my MAC shade is NW20. this shad looked orange on my skin, like i had rubbed something on it! certainly not a cheeky blush haha. the lip gloss, however, was beautiful! deepthroat suited my skin tone a lot better.

I really like this blush. I have pretty fair skin and it gives me a nice natural glow. I also love the Nars lip glosses but the orgasm lip gloss is a bit too light pink for me, washes me out. But as far as makeup brands go, I love Nars. Very Happy

Okay, this is the first NARS blush I had, and I wasn't really impressed by it at all despite the overwhelimg positive feedbacks it's been getting. It turned yellow on my face and made me looked really tired .....I ended up swapping it away on MUA Confused
