I have never used any retinol products, have normal/dry skin somewhat sensitive skin (tried an AHA product once and it gave me a rash, am allergic to aloe and neosporin), and am starting to notice hyper pigmentation and would like to even out skin tone, combat wrinkles, etc.. I am currently using a bit of this and a bit of that: Valmont, hyaluronic acid, Camelia oil, Paula's Choice Super Antioxident, Julia's anti-wrinkle mix....
Any suggestions on which way to go would be appreciated.. Green Cream 6? Skinmedica? Dr. Graf?
Thanks for any info - Valerie |

Skincareaddicted,
I checked out perfect complexion's retinol serum and it doesn't say anything about the ingredients/strength of the product. Do you happen to know? And did you peel a lot when you started using it? Thanks! |
Hi Jesselyn,
I actually don't know because it's the one product Julie probably forgot to post the ingredients for. Email her perhaps?
and i don't really peel with any retinol product but it is advisable to start out using it 2-3 times a week, alternating nights.

I'm thinking of starting to use a retinol product for the first time. I was thinking of Using Cosmedix Refine 4%. Does anyone have any experience with that product. Is it a good way to start? |

has anyone tried Avene retinol products?
it has Ystheal line with 0,05% retinaldehyde,
Eluage line with 0,05% retinaldehyde and hyaluronic acid, and Diacneal (meant for treating acne first of all) with 0.1% retinaldehyde and 6,4% glycolic acid.
also what is strange - Ystheal line is supposed for 28-40 years old, and Eluage - from 40-45. why? does it mean that I should not use hyaluronic acid being 30? |

Does this mean that the Ystheal and Eluage lines are not effective for anyone over 45? |

ahihi, sorry if it was misleading, but I meant that Eluage line is supposed for people STARTING from 40-45, in other words, 40+.
this is exactly your case.
as for Ystheal, manufacturers claim it to be for younger people.
but the only difference in them - is hyaluronic acid in Eluage line, the percentage of the active - retinaldehyde - is the same.

Hi Jom,
I am currently using cosmedix's refine 4%.
It is the first retinol product I have used - so can't compare to similar products. Also, I started this at the same time that I started other cosmedix products so I am not sure of it's exact affects.
Having said that - the product is gentle and I have had no negative skin reactions. The refine generally leaves my face the next morning smoother and more even toned.
There is little product for the relatively high price. I have read that other product lines such as Osmosis and Pure Skin Junkie have very similar products without such a hefty price tag. I would have given these product lines a try before Cosmedix had I known they existed and were easily available in Aus. |

Thanks Frangipani, I went ahead and ordered the Refine and I'm looking forward to trying it out. I use a couple of other Cosmedix products and like them so I thought they would be a safe line to start with. |
