In search of a new body sunscreen

I'm in search of a new sunscreen for my body. I'd prefer it to be fairly inexpensive and as an opposite to what many want on here, fragrance is great! I say this because this is the only way I can make myself put it on. I can't even stand putting lotion on my body.

As my husband puts it, I religiously avoid the sun. At the same time, I figure if I can find something moisturizing for my skin with a great fragrance, if it had sun protection to it, that would be even better. I have to admit, the only sunscreen that I kept up using for a while was Hawaiian Tropic. I absolutely love the fragrance. They have a new kind out now that I need to keep an eye out for: Protective Tanning Dry Oil SPF 12 Continuous Spray. Last year I think I used the Golden Tanning Dry Oil Sunscreen SPF 6. So, this sounds better both in terms of SPF and of ease of application.

We've got a week coming up at the end of April where we will be camping at a week long music festival. I'm not going to be able to avoid the windows or going outside. Sad

Anyway, I was considering something like Blue Lizard for this week. I think the Baby formula looked like the best deal in terms of cost for they physical sun screen.

Any other recommendations?

I personally like MyChelle Sun Shield SPF 28 for a body sunscreen, but I wouldn't say it's particularly moisturizing.

Another one I've wanted to try is Devita's body sunscreen, because I adore their facial sunscreen. The ingredients look very similar to the face one. The facial one is totally fragrance-free, but you could add some essential oils for a nice non-irritating fragrance (as long as you select the oil carefully -- nothing that's a photosensitizer!).

Lastly, I found some physical sunscreen wipes by MD Moms -- they're little towelettes soaked with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide-based sunscreen, and they are quite heavily fragranced. I find them to be easier to use on the go than many other body sunscreens, as I'm always bad about applying that stuff. Anything to make it easier.

Welcome to EDS! Any sunscreen that I tried on my face and hated gets used up on the rest of me, so I have lots to go through!

I have Blue Lizard, I like it because it's physical. I've also heard that Ocean Potion has come out with a mineral sunscreen as well. A lot of the lifeguards and surfers here in Southern California use that and I've heard a lot of raves about it, but it's too rich for facial use.

Badger SPF30 sunblock is completely physical, but honestly I'm having a hard time using this up - the ingredients are lovely but it leaves a white, greasy film that never, ever goes away I really hate this stuff but wanted to love it.

So far, my favorite sun screen for the rest of me is Clarin's for Children. It has an SPF of 30, titanium dioxide 15.2%, zinc 3%. It isn't overly greasy and the white cast disappears pretty quickly. The biggest downside to this is the price; it's pretty spendy, but I found it at my local TJMaxx for only $8 USD. I'll use up the rest of my Badger and Blue Lizard before I need to spring for any more.

i have both the baby and sensitive skin version of blue lizard. the ingredients are identical. it's not a bad SS but it is very white. i don't think i would buy them again but the bottle changing colors when exposed to uv light is cool. plus it doesn't have much of a pleasant scent (not that it's unpleasant).

do try devita's body block spf 30. it is a gel-creme formula and feels truly like nothing applied! it's also a deal, only $19 for 6 oz at internatural:

i have the face version too but i think i prefer the body one for the face since the ingredients are similiar.

i have been testing the devita body block on and off for a couple weeks. it's a definite deal and i do like the body block a while lot better than the devita for the face. it's a little more moisturizing because of the shea butter and it also has green tea but i still use a little moisturizer or avocado oil underneath as i tend to flake if i don't have enough moisture. barbara from devita also said it was safe for the face (i suspected it was but wanted to be extra sure):

I just figured I might as well put some of my thoughts there too, since none of my friends or family are on EDS but the sometimes like to know what my skincare brain is up to.

I think I'll try out the body block when I use up my face stuff. Just curious, though -- do you ever break out from shea butter in general? I do, but only in pretty high concentrations, so I just want to make sure this stuff won't be problematic for me. But honestly, the Devita eye cream has it as one of the main ingredients, and it feels so light I feel as if I could apply it straight onto my whole face! Who knows.

And by the way, on that note, I've tried at least one of the two eye creams you PMed me. Good stuff so far, thanks again!

Shea butter doesn't make me break out really even when i use it straight. But I think you're right in that the devita body block will be similar to the eye cream in that you won't notice the shea butter in it. i just know it's probably the shea butter that makes the body block more moisturizing than the face moisturizer.

if you want to try the body block, let me know ok? i can send you some. and glad you liked the eye creams, curious though, was it the jenulence one? that's definitely one i am trying in the near future.

I'd actually really love it if you wouldn't mind decanting me a teensy bit of the body stuff -- I'd love to see what it's like, and make sure it doesn't break my face out.

And let me know if you want a tad of the Devita eye cream decanted -- I have a TON and I've started using it on my body since it doesn't do much for me eye-area-wise. Laughing

And yeah, the eye cream is Jenulence -- the other samples I ordered actually haven't come yet, grr. I'll have to check in about that! Thanks for the reminder!
