Hi, Iīm brazilian, living in Brazil.
It sounds stupid, but itīs a problem that I canīt solve without changing...
I have a 'brown-orange'(donīt know the right name for calling it) skin tone (not black), and I want to be lighter.
Can somebody tell me safe methods of how to get it (ligther skin), without damaging health or the skin itself?
Thank you very much!

Dear Orange-Brown-Yellow,

When I first say your username, I assumed you were writing about a bad experience with a self tanner!!!!!! Laughing

I'm pasty white with dark eye circles here in Canada and I would give ANYTHING to trade places with you and be in Brazil!!!!!! I can't picture your skin tone as everytime I close my eyes I think of how beautiful Brazil must be. If I were you, I would embrace my darker side and play it up with some shimmers, bronzers and facial highlighters. Look into Benefit Moon Beam or MAC Shimmers.

It's so funny how we always want what we don't have.

If you are refering to a problem with hyper-pigmentation than Yonka makes some products for this.

I think orange-brown-yellow skin = beautiful Wink

My advice would be to (a) start using high SPF sunblock religiously, this is probably what might help you most (in my opinion anyway). I would also look into Dermalogica Microfoliant which tends to brighten my skin tone (I'm pretty pale to start off with). But this would not give you any spectacular lightening results I'm afraid. There are many products on the market that have hydroquinone for example, but that is a harsher way of going about lightening the skin (which, personally I'd stay away from).

Plus, be aware that you can't (not should you) really lighten your skin tone to beyond what you were born with. So, if this is how your skin has always been then you'll need to learn to love it. I'm with Miss Shoes though, I'm very pale and the skin color you described sounds gorgeous!

All the best,
Mabsy

Itīs just that I was born lighter. From 8 years, up, I started to get this color, thay most people have here...
Lol, I thing itīs more psicological, because I always like American, European people, being cultured influenciated.

Dear Oj Brown etc, well I like using godiva, its safe natural no- Hydroquinone(which can damage cells w/ long use and if expose to sunlight without sunblock can make u darker than what u are (Hyperpigmentate)Try using something natural like godiva. Before I was just looking for products for my melasma and hyperpigmentation, but I started to get into skin lighteners as well now just to brighten my skin a little bit to get back to my original color. So I tried www.Godivaskincare.com products and It does really work, it brightens your skin and also starts to lighten it. I think u should try it. Also when going out into the sun use shiseido SPF50 or 55 it works well, its a physical sunblock meaning it contains either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide which fully shield the uvb uva well all the rays from your skin. As for chemical unblocks they only sheild the rays by letting your body produce melanin(color) to protect your skin from burning. So if u want to be lighter use a physical sunblock. Well I really hope this helps. I understand how u feel about wanting to be back to what you were before. Take care Very Happy

Welcome!
I can tell you, there are some very pale people here and trust me, they are not cultured or even very intelligent!
Your skin colour sounds beautiful and I think you should enhance it as miss shoes recommended, but I agree that wearing sunblock as suggested my Mabsy is essential...Not because it will have a lightening effect (it will), but because it will prevent premature aging.

Love yourself Very Happy
