I'm doing Obagi which includes Retin-A and when my flakies get really bad I use Biomedic's Pure Enzyme peel. It is gentle but effective and getting most of them off. I usually use this right before I shower and then the heat and steam from the shower also helps soften the dead skin up enough for me to gently rub it off with my fingers. |

Something really basic and simple that you can rely on for simple moisture and then seal it in with Aquaphor. The "basic and simple cream" really depends on your skin. My skin drinks up pretty much anything with no problems if it's parched. Some things that seem to work for a lot of people are: Cerave Cream, Cerave Lotion, Cetaphil Cream (not lotion), basic lotions/creams from Avene, La Roche-Posay, Dove, Olay lines. |

Hi,
thanks for your comments, i think a barrier cream would be ideal as you say it locks in the moisture, and hopefully will keep the peelies at bay |

Thanks Caspers Mum, I was looking some good moisturizers while on Obagi/Retin A as well. Can you recommend on that doesn't leave you looking oily? |

I have been using PSF's balancing oil mixed with hyaluronic acid to moisturize after applying Retin A. |

I second carforum. Emu oil is awesome, especially when mixed with a drop or two of hyaluronic acid.

can I use jojoba oil with a drop of hyaluronic acid instead of Emu oil?
and should there be some waiting time between applying a retionid and moisturizer? |

Will retin-a still work if i wash, then moisturize, wait and then apply retin-a, because thinking about it, before i even used retin-a if i washed my face i had to moisturize straight away because my face felt like i had a mask on if i didn't |

I have been using Retin-A for about two months. I use camellia oil in the evenings, sometimes with Helichrysum EO. Also I use microfiber cloth every day, and try not to touch my face during the day. |

It has been about 7-8 years since I used Obagi. It was a terrific skin care line but my skin never really adjusted to it completely and I got tired of the flakes and peeling skin. When I was using Obagi the two products that seemed to help the most with dry, flaky skin was Obagi Action and Obagi Tolereen. Here is a link and it does state that the two products are best when mixed together.

I think you are putting too much.
Please follow the steps as per instruction
You will avoid too much "flakes" on your skin.
Cheers.

I've been using for around a month at the .05%, haven't had any flaking. My skin is pretty tolerable of about anything though, so that may be why I have no flakies.
I only use a about a pea sized amount (a big pea), also waiting at least 15mins after you wash your face is essential. Then after I put it on, I wait an additional 15 more mins and apply emu oil. |

I was given advice if the flaking and redness were too much, to either using the Retin A every second day and/or not mix it with #5 Obagi Blender as the blender drives the retin a deep into the skin. |

I do the same thing, if it gets to be too much I give myself a day off with the Retin A and Blender. I got the Obagi Action which helps alot with the redness and peeling. Also you can buy a microfiber facial cloths and scrub lightly to take the flakies away. Be careful not to scrub too hard.
I am always so surprised by the people who don't flake when they are on Obagi. I thought that was a sign that the old skin is shedding. But if your still getting results without the flaking, I'm jealous. |

The company actually recommends a product called Catrix. I used it when I was on retin-A and it was a good emollient/barrier-type cream. |
