I got this machine 3 weeks ago from NCN Proskincare and thought I'd post an early review after 4 uses....
First off, my primary motivation in buying the machine was to try to smooth out quite severe milia around my eyes since manual exfoliation wasn't making any difference and I didn't want the expense of laser treatments.
Here's a description of the machine from the NCN website:
Quote: |
The Timepeel is a new microdermabrasion technique that exfoliates and gently resurfaces the skin, promoting the formation of new, smoother, and clearer skin. The Timepeel uses a non-invasive procedure with natural diamonds located on the tip to naturally exfoliate your skin. The Timepeel is safe, quick and painless.
By removing the damaged top layer of the skin with the Timepeel, it can literally help undo the ravages of time. The Timepeel can diminish:
♦ fine lines and wrinkles
♦ fade age spots
♦ sun damaged skin
♦ refine enlarged pores
♦ equalize skin tone
♦ blemishes
♦ blackheads and whiteheads
♦ signs of aging skin
♦ mild hyperpigmentation
♦ certain types of acne scars
Overall, the effect is much like turning back the clock to restore the silky soft skin of younger years. And while just one treatment can produce results, additional treatments are desirable and recommended to attain - and maintain - the dewy complexion desired. |
There are 3 intensity levels on the machine - Low (or Mid): eye area, upper lips;
Mid: Cheeks;
High: Forehead and nose.
So far I've been using the Low setting for around my eyes and this morning it suddenly hit me when I was looking at myself in the (magnifying!) mirror, that my milia were smooth
Results finally
Up until using Time Peel, the eye area was very uneven with those awful large bumps from the milia, so I'm just thrilled at this point!
Overall I've also noticed my skin is much smoother and more "glowy" than when manually exfoliating. Although I still use a microfiber cloth daily, I'm amazed at the amount of dead skin in the Time Peel filter after I use it.
I also want to mention the process is painless and easy to do

I received a CrystaLift Microdermabration machine for Christmas and have been using it ever since once a week.
I don't know how it compares to TimePeel or if one is better than the other. I like my Crystalift. My face feel very soft and smooth afterwards. I don't have milia. |

Yes, please do keep us posted. I've had my eye on this machine for a few months, but had yet to read any reviews-- very curious. |

I also have this machine. I have been using it on my face and hands since early January. My face has already been well-cared for, but my poor hands have been neglected and are showing my age. This machine is turning back time. |

I am not clear how this is better than the clarisonic or using a glycolic cleanser, or a lactic peel...
Could someone enlighten me as to the specific benefits of this particular type of exfoliation?

I purchased this machine on eBay quite a number of months back and I really do love it. What a terrific savings. No more spa diamond microdermabrasions for this dame!
I wonder if NCN sells supplies for the machine, like the filters, etc. Does anyone know? |

I've see a lot on this forum about needling/dermawands. I wonder if the same benefits can be acheived with diamondtome micro-- anyone able to compare? |

Stephie, send Nanci an email and ask her, she'll be happy to help. The machine comes with 100 filters, so they should keep you going for a long time
Catski and others who've enquired how it compares to other tools...I wish I could help, but I don't have the Clarisonic. Its definitely more effective than manual exfoliation and Pumpkin Peel for example.

It's interesting. I love my clarisonic and in the past had microdermabrasion. I've had to stop all the spa stuff to keep up with my skin care * spam alert */gadget buying. I've come to believe that the clarisonic is taking care of my exfoliation needs but I guess the only way to truly know if this the case is to get a professional micro derm and see.
This is intriguing and I sure love my arsenol of gadgets - just need another hour or so in my day to use them all daily. |

Thanks for review!
This machine does look quite different from other home units, pretty amazed that it can be used around the eye region!
How often do u do your treatments Anya? Does it take a lot of time? |

Hi Ambien,
I give myself a treatment about every 5 days and it doesn't take long at all - probably 5 minutes for my face. I pass the wand over each area once, follow up with a cell renewal toner, then apply my Vit C and JB products (I usually do it in the a.m.).

G'oan, go for it You can try it out for 30 days and send it back if you're not happy with it, so really, you have nothing to lose.
The way I look at it is, it pays for itself after 2 or 3 treatments. |

Lol, oh Anya that's the exact thing I always tell people when they are hesitant about trying products!
Thing is, thanks to EDS, there are too many products on my list right now to try within 30 days with only one face and one pocket!
Thanks for adding to my ever growing list fo wants though, great review! Too good in fact... |

I'd love to hear how this works for those with enlarged pores. My skin is much more clear, less dull than it was a year ago. Deep forehead lines have been reduced but the one glaring thing I see when I look in the mirror every day are the large pores; to me at least, they look like CRATERS! I'm still looking for an effective means of reducing them that doesn't involve visits to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
Anyone? |

Hi lou, using Janson Beckett's AlphaDermaCE and SkinPrep on a daily basis has really helped. It took a couple months to see a difference, but forehead and necklines are definitely much shallower than they were. They're staples in my routine. |

I have a problem with milia and really would love to try this too. Keep us posted on the results. Is the machine very expensive? |

Babs, its $299, not cheap, but a lot cheaper than laser. I'm continuing to use it weekly and although the milia aren't gone, they are much, much smoother and I'm less self-conscious about them now. Aside from the milia, my skin is looking so much better too |

Hi babs, I tend to get milia around my eyes if I'm not careful about what products I use there. I had two or three under and on the eyelid. I realized one day that they were gone and the only differene was that I had incorporated a microfiber cloth to my routine. I purchased my cloth from NCN who is the vendor for the aforementioned machine as well. It might be worth a try. |

This gadget sounds interesting. Does anyone using it exfoliate manually with anything more than a microdermabrasion cloth? I use a homemade preparation that is comparative to Epidermx. Do you think this unit would give me better results than that type of manual exfoliation? |

Hi There,
Thought I'd reply, I had a problem with large pores due to tanning. I had Laser Genesis just in my t-zone (forhead, nose, next to nose, above lip) and it reduced my pore size about 75%. I had 6 treatments (6th one was free). This was about 5 years ago and I'd say I'm getting close to where I started from...the results were strong for about 3 years.
Genesis isn't cheap, but shop around. My treatments were $180 apiece. There are some greedy docs out there that try to charge $2500 for a series of 5 (found this out the hard way...a couple of pricey consults).
I've also heard IPL is good for pore size. Shope around on this one as well...I found a woman who would do it for $200, as opposed to $400+ per treatment.
Timepeel looks great...my mom is an esthetician and she uses the diamond wand for her microdermabrasions....it's just as effective (or more effective) that crystals, and no refills are needed. I'm checking up on the wattage of the Crystalift anyway...Timepeel is 18 watts...going to compare the two. My mom says the suction is what really causes collagen stimulation.
Hope that helps! Happy New Year.
