I am having a really hard time with makeup, everything I apply, looks 'rough', like dry skin (accept theres none there), it just looks really obvious and patchy & the more I blend the worse it looks. This is with everything full coverage that is not a hydrating cream foundation, but these just don't have enough coverage... all the full foundations which I need for acne scars just look really cakey and flakey. I'm sure its in how I apply it, I don't know how much to use - how much product should be used for a blemish?
Please can someone tell me how to apply makeup so that it looks more natural beauty then retarted drag queen.
Thanks guys... |

Hi, many members here luv using MMU. If your skin is not too dry, I think you'll like it too for their natural finish.
Do a search on Mineral Makeup and it'll tell u more about it. There're many different brands out there so it can get quite confusing. |

Maybe you need to change your skincare routine and use a more emollient moisturizer to better prepare your skin for the makeup. |

Hi there! I have struggled a lot with breakouts too, so I know how you feel. My skin is very fair too, so covering those monsters can be a real pain. I don't know the severity of your breakouts, but I can tell you that when I was going through a really terrible time when my whole face was broken out, Everyday Minerals Matte Mineral Foundation really delivered awesome coverage. You will also get more coverage if you apply it with a flocked sponge (which you can also order from Everyday Minerals), and I would definitely recommend trying that. Also, as others have suggested, it might help to re-think your moisturizer. For wintertime, I love using Zenbiotic's Phyto Moisture and Winter Moisture.
Here's the routine I would recommend for you:
1) Try Epidermx Microderm scrub to even your skin texture and help fade your acne scars.
2) Try using a better moisturizer such as the ones from Zenbiotic.
3) Using a soft, synthetic-bristled Mineral Make up brush (such as the ones sold at Every Day Minerals or Alima), apply a thin layer of MMU all over your face.
4) On areas that are heavily broken out or scarred, apply a thicker layer of the MMU using a flocked sponge.
5) On areas where you just have one or two isolated breakouts, get more coverage by dipping a small synthetic brush (again, you can buy good ones at Alima and EDM) into your MMU and apply directly to the blemish.
6) Lastly, if you prefer a dewy look rather than a totally matte look, mist your face with Zenbiotic's Phyto Moisture spray. It will give your skin a dewy look and it will help the MMU to melt into your skin so it doesn't even look like you are wearing makeup!
HTH! Here are the sites where you can buy the products I mentioned:

Make sure you're using the right shade of foundation. If you don't have a match, nothing's going to look right. Instead of using a full coverage foundation, use a heavy duty concealor to cover up blemishes, then a light foundation. |

I'd say get a good exfolient (pumpkin peel or dermalogica microfolient) to make sure that you're starting with a smooth base. You could also try a light makeup primer like Smashbox Photofinish. And as someone else mentioned use a light touch with foundation and make sure you have exactly the right shade. Often the shade will look like a match under the artificial lights but once you wear it outside it is totally off. Buy a very good quality foundation. I love Laura Mercier. |
