I know microdermabrasion is a no-no for rosacea, but I'd love to try it. Any fellow rosacea sufferers out there who get great results without flaring up? |

Generally speaking even for those who don't have rosacea, microdermabrasion is not good for skin. I just don't do it cuz even if you don't see anything happening you are still tearing your skin. So I just use a glycolic acid gel or beta hydroxy liquid to keep my skin exfoliated. |

I bought the Youthful Essence stuff from those infomercials and it was totally useless. It came with a cleanser, toner, and a hand held tool. At first it made me break out, so that was discouraging. Other than that, it made my skin red, irritated and worked comparable to those cheap exfoliation kits you can buy at the drugstores. A professional microdermabrasion is different, they use a high grade wand or tool. At my spa they use a "diamond tip" whatever that means. Basically it helps with the exfoliation process. If you have Rosacea, it will flare up and well as active acne. Also you cannot be using Retin-A if you want to use microdermabrasion, since there are side effects. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the replies! Rosacea sucks! It wasn't all that bad until I hit my 30's. I'm now undergoing Intense Pulsed Light Therapy for it (only one session so far). Hope it helps (since it's gonna cost me at least $500!) |

CMAYC: Have you had an IPL yet? And if you have how did it go? I'm thinking about having one as well to help with redness- I don't have full blown rosacea but the beginning stages. |

I have the beginning stages too. I've had one treatment 2 weeks ago. No improvement yet, but it takes a minimum of 3 treatments to see any results. I'm hoping my skin doesn't require more than 3, since each treatment is costing me $125. |

I recently contacted a dermatologist's office and was advised that microdermbrasion is not performed on the rosacea afflicted areas. I have had IPL (3 sessions) and saw no results. However, based on a post on the EDS forum, I have had some success with Nizoral, metrocream (rx) and glycolic peels. Hope this helps! |

Stovetop...are you going to continue with IPL? Which glycolic peel do you use? Could you tell me a little about your experience with Nizoral and Metrocream? |
