Since Sunday I have been using a mixture of either castor oil/jojoba oil/rosemary/lemon or castor oil/sweet almond oil/rosemary..I try to put around 75% of castor oil but it's never exact. I put a couple drops of the EOs and maybe 5-6 drops of jojoba or sweet almond oil. After washing off the oil I put a few drops of jojoba oil. Wednesday and Friday I used mama lotion (just bought it Wednesday). I don't use anything else on my face and I have clear, albeit very oily skin, and blackheads on my nose. I had a lot of sebum plugs and some blackheads come out this past week doing OCM but this morning I woke up and my nose has little bumps on it. It's not exactly acne (I don't think) and not that noticeable..it's just a cluster of small slightly red bumps, only on my nose. I also have 3 small red pimples, the kind I usually get if I have any acne- they are basically small raised red bumps that go away within a couple of days without coming to a head. I could possibly attribute to my TOM since that's the only time I get acne, but I haven't been getting hormonal acne for the last month or two. So my question is this- am I one of those people who can't use OCM because their skin gets irritated? Should I stop?

I took pictures since I can't explain it well but I am not allowed to post them since I am a new user. I would be happy to PM the links if anyone wants to see.

It doesnt sound like its irritated though the lemon and rosemary could be a possible source. The mix you are using is too rich. The oils are too heavy so that is why maybe you are breaking out. It doesnt rinse well as its oil but what I like to do is use a latex sponge to wipe off my cleansers.

I think grapeseed, jojoba or almond are supposed to be better. The EO you can use are lavender, geranium or ylang ylang.

OMG!! That is too much castor oil! I think your face is reacting to your mixture. You need more of the 'other' oil. I prefer EVOO, but grapeseed is good too. Remember..castor is the 'cleaning oil' and the 'other' oil is the moisturizer.

Do a 50/50 mix first (1 tablespoon EVOO and 1 tablespoon Castor oil).

Many times that is too much castor for a lot of people, but you have to find out what works for your skin.

I would ditch the lemon and rosemary for now until you find the basic mixture that works for your skin.

My favorite mix is 1/1/1: (1part EVOO, 1part castor oil, 1part grapeseed oil).

Good luck!

Ahh okay.. too much castor oil. I thought I should put 75/25 because my face is so oily.

I have more questions..
1. So I should never use lemon and rosemary on my face? Or is it that I shouldn't mix them together?

2. Should I put some jojoba oil on the weird red bumps or could that possibly make it worse?

3. Is the reason I am breaking out due to the fact that I am putting these oils on my skin or that I'm allergic or that the oil isn't being completely washed off?

Thanks so much for your help!!

I wouldnt mix lemon and rosemary if your face is getting red.

The oils are too heavy for your skin type and it could be that its not being cleaned off. You can use a toner or aloe vera to wipe your face after and see if anything is left.
