We're looking for a natural spray or something to put all over the yard, my sister is highly allergic to bees/wasps, and I am too.

We're also allergic to pesticides, chemicals, so is there any NATURAL substance at all to spray all over the yard that won't harm cats, either?

It would be nice if it would not only repel bees, wasps, etc. but mosquitoes and flies, too.

It's AWFUL here in south Texas in warm months with the insects

The yellow bee and wasp traps you can buy have really worked well for me. I had a bad wasp infestation in my garden shed. After hanging a trap on a nearby tree they were gone by the end of summer.
I've also used diluted dish soap to spray my rose bushes as an insect repellent. I'm not sure if it would work on bees though.

bees are already in danger with huge populations being eliminated, nobody knows why but its very scary because we need their pollination. Do not kill bees....try to live with them, they wont sting if you just leave them alone.

I didn't want to kill bees/wasps, just wanted to repel them, to keep them away from our yard.

I wouldn't kill a bee unless I was being attacked.

I heard chrysanthemums repel bees, does anyone know for sure? We don't have any flowers in the yard to attract bees, but I would plant chrysanthemums if it would help.

I would check with your garden center for natural/organic pesticides and see if there are any sprays that'll discourage bees from landing in your yard without killing them.

I made a homemade pesticide with castille soap, distilled water and neem oil to keep bugs off my tomato plants but don't know how effective they were with bees since they weren't around.

Thank you everyone.

Also, if any of you know of a MOST effective all natural spray or lotion to spray on myself to repel mosquitoes, etc, please let me know.

Some say the Burt's Bees repellent works, but others say it's not that great.

There is a difference between honey bees and wasps. You should NOT kill nor repel honey bees as they pollinate crops and their numbers are indeed being dangerously reduced in the US.

You SHOULD try to control, repel and/or eliminate wasps, however, as many, such as yellow jackets and paper wasps, can be dangerous. Both are very aggressive insects and will sting numerous times, which can pose a life-threatening situation for even those who are not allergic to bees and wasps.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any natural way of repelling wasps.

Yes, this should probably be moved to the Lounge but sometimes you'll see topics placed in the wrong forum. It's easily enough moved by the moderators and doesn't cause anyone harm...
